2 Most Important Dates Formal Dinner Event - Sunday, May 21 Grad Arrivals at GESS ~ 2:00 pm Grad March at The Grand ~ 5:50 pm Convocation and Awards - Friday, June 23 GESS starting at ~ 6:00 pm Dry Grad Event - after Convocation and Awards, departing to an unspecified location ~ 8:30 pm 2

3 Who Organizes Dry Grad? Dry Grad is an event or party organized, operated, and delivered by volunteers. This means us gathered here today! This is not a school sanctioned event. 3

4 What is Dry Grad? Dry Grad is an all-night after-grad party. A celebration where a complete prohibition on drug and alcohol use is enforced. Dry Grad is intended to offer an exciting and absorbing variety of fun activities, and compelling entertainment. 4

5 What is the Aim of Dry Grad? Primarily, to reduce the risk of harm to the graduates, on a night when that risk is unusually high. The size and scope of a Dry Grad is dependant on the fundraising participation of students and parents,, and the direct involvement of parents in planning and organizing the event. 5

6 Other Volunteer Needs Fashion Show - Wednesday, Feb 22 Fundraising, Fundraising, Fundraising River-Raft Raft Trip, Movie Night, etc... Graduation Ceremony, Friday, June 23 Logistics and Decorating All taking place before the Dry Grad Event Hopefully - Grade 11 Parents Participate! 6

7 Fundraising Popcorn is sold every Tuesday in Foyer during lunch-break, at $2 per bag. This sale is only held on days when suitable, or at sporting events when applicable. Purdy s s Chocolates are currently being sold at various locations in Lake Country, at $2 per bar. 7

8 Fundraising, cont. Gary s s European Sausage is now available for order. Students interested may obtain an order form from Mrs Komat at the school office during business hours. Other fundraisers under consideration include a Spring Dance, a Drive-Thru Breakfast, and a second Pub Night. Your ideas are most welcome! 8

9 Dry Grad Organizing Committee * Ideally comprised of 5 planning groups ; - Chair / Finance - Communications / Promotion - Fundraising / Collection - Activities / Prizes / Food - Event Management / Volunteers * Each group requires an identified leader. 9

10 Volunteer Crews Needed A successful event will also require volunteer crews to make things happen : - Food Preparation (day before) - Transportation of Food and Supplies - Set-Up and Decorations (morning of) - Adult Supervision and Security - Take-Down and Clean-Up (next day) 10

11 Planning Template Have a work-in in-progress to identify : - Projected Cash Flow (Budget) - Potential Fundraisers - Potential Donors - Potential Activities (Before Event) - Potential Activities (During Event) - Tasks and Check-List for each Group 11
