2 About TED (Technology, Entertainment & Design) About TEDx (x = Independently Organized Event) TED is a nonprofit organization with a motto to share ideas worth spreading. What originated as a 4- day conference in California 33 years ago has since grown into a conference of movers and shakers with changing ideas and multiple initiatives. At TED, the world s leading thinkers and doers deliver 18 minute talks that are later made available, free, at TED.com. TED speakers have included Bill Gates, Jane Goodall, Elizabeth Gilbert, Sir Richard Branson, Beoit Mandelbrot, Phillippe Starck, Ngozi Okonjo- Iweala, Isabel Allende, and former UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown. TED s media initiatives include TED.com, where new TEDTalks are posted daily; the new TED Conversations enable an exchange of broad conversations among TED fans; and the Open Translation Project, a worldwide volunteer enterprise that translates TEDTalks and also provides subtitles and interactive transcripts. These media initiatives have contributed to over one billion TED video views. Each year, two major TED events take place: the TED Conference every spring Vancouver, British Columbia (along with a parallel conference, TEDActive, in Palm Springs), and TED Global is held each summer in a different location, Arusha, Tanzania being the choice for In 2014 TED has started a new chapter in celebration of its 30 th anniversary and just recently has brought along TEDActive to the peaks of Whistler, BC. In December 2015, TED hosted a special event TEDGlobal in Geneva, which has given unprecedented visibility to all upcoming TEDx events in Switzerland, namely TEDxLugano. Right after, the Curator of TEDGlobal Bruno Giussani, native of the canton of Ticino, has won the Swiss Person of the Year award. In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that brings people together to share a TED-like experience. TEDx events combine TEDTalks and live speakers to spark deep discussions and connections among an intimate group of attendees. These local, selforganized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations). WHO ARE WE? TEDxLugano is an independently organized group, comprised of local volunteers who are dedicated to ideas worth spreading. TEDxLugano 2017 invites you to explore the world around you. At our event, you ll join an energetic and dynamic group of people to celebrate the power of great ideas. Let our accomplished and innovative speakers lead you in a fresh, thought-provoking journey of perspective, and you ll come away motivated and inspired to affect change. TED is a conference where you re not just expected to listen to talks; the environment and the support system encourage you to bring your ideas forward. REACH The visitors and followers of TEDxLugano are highly educated and have an international and culturally diverse background, therefore sponsors get major visibility through the local powerhouse of new ideas. In 2014, the event had 100 participants; in participants; and in 2016 we finally received the exclusive license for the unlimited number of participants while reaching 300 in actual attendance. This year we expect 1,000 attendees and over 2,000 applications for tickets. Our social media currently are growing at a steady pace: our linkedin group counts over 500 members, the facebook page has already surpassed 1,000 likes, instagram more than 1,200 followers, our partnership with Swiss Social helps us build the local community through networking events with the reach to over 5,500 members locally only in the Ticino area, while the total number of views on our youtube channel broke the staggering 30,000!

Brené Brown At TEDx Lugano we are and always have been all about contribution. Our most senior team members, with Sergali Adilbekov as Curator, Geoffroy Baylaender as Web Administrator and Mattia Bertoldi responsible for PR & Mass Media, bring more than 12 years of experience to the successful organization of the TEDxLugano event. The TEDx Lugano conference was first held in 2014 and rapidly became an ever growing platform for the exchange of ideas, visions, and thoughts. Jack Vincent - Sales Advisor and Author, Karin Hehenberger CEO of Lyfebulb and life science Executive and Pio Wennubst, Head of the Global Cooperation Department, are only a few of our most renowned and inspiring past speakers. Inspired by past speakers and building on the experience of our most senior team members combined with the know-how and innovative power of our entire team we aim to become the alternative conference to the World Economic Forum. 5 THEME Professions of the future When we think of the professions of the future we may ask ourselves: How will the world of tomorrow, particularly the working world, function? The world is changing fast. Some jobs are disappearing, while some are flourishing. Our future depends on how well each of us understands how the world - especially the working world - is being reimagined. The idea of a hyperconnected world is becoming a reality and we need to prepare ourselves accordingly. With this year s TEDxLugano conference we aim to shed light onto the different professional fields and the potential changes that will affect the way the modern human being interacts and works in these fields. The speaker's line-up will include leading and accomplished personalities from different areas of work, science and other areas of development, whom we believe to be in the best position to forecast future change.
