Woodlief, Chair Professional Development gwoodlief@georgiahealth.edu, (706) Thursday, May 12, our Annual Membership Dinner Meeting and Educational Seminar for NAPM - Augusta Area, Inc. will be held at The Pinnacle Club (Wells Fargo Bank Building), 699 Broad Street, Augusta. This is also a joint meeting with NCMA and APICS. Social time begins at 6:00pm, dinner at 6:30pm. Reservations through Debbie, our NAPM Secretary, are required by 2 pm, Monday, May 9. David Hall, Doctoral Student in Supply Chain & Operations Management at Clemson University is our speaker, with an interactive presentation of Sourcing Choices for Boeing's New Airplane the "Dreamliner." Meet and greet other NAPM members as well as area NCMA and APICS members coming in from around the CSRA. One Continuing Education Hour (CEH) certificate will be given at the meeting for attending this fourth of four 2011 NAPM/ISM training certification sessions offered at our NAPM Augusta Monthly Membership Meetings. Local NCMA and APICS members were invited as a professional supply chain educational and networking opportunity. Remember, our dinner meeting is a benefit of your NAPM current membership, but we charge you $25 for the dinner if you make a reservation and do not attend or send a substitute. When we meet at The Pinnacle Club, reserve with Debbie, Secretary, NAPM - Augusta Area, Inc. (deborah.mcgugan@us.army.mil or ). She s a reservation confirmation to you. Remember: Business casual dress is required; no denim or sneakers are allowed at the Pinnacle Club.

2 NAPM AUGUSTA AREA SCHOLARSHIP COMMITTEE Mike Albert, Committee Chairperson, C.P.M. (706) FREE CEH SEMINARS (Continuing Education Hours) The NAPM-Augusta Area, Inc. scholarship awards will be given on June 9, 2011, during the regular dinner meeting scheduled for the Pinnacle Club located on 699 Broad Street. Invitees should plan to arrive between 6:00 & 6:30 PM. We will be awarding a total of $2, in scholarships. The number and value of the scholarships will be determined at the discretion of the scholarship committee. Those individuals eligible for the scholarships are as follows: A) Member or "dependent" of member (as defined by the IRS) or B) NAPM Augusta Area Golf Tournament Sponsor or "dependent" of sponsor (as defined by the IRS) C) Full time (preferred) student at an accredited college or university D) Business related degree program is preferred E) Minimum GPA = 3.0 F) Subjective Criteria/Other: - civic, community and/or extracurricular activities: - awards, honors and/or accomplishments deserving notice: - work experience (attach additional page or resume if needed) - level of participation of member or sponsor NOTES: 1) Member or Sponsor and Applicant to attest to the accuracy of items A, B & E. To allow for applications, we will accept the application without signatures if the sender is the member or sponsor. If the applicant submits the application both signatures must be on the application. 2) If the applicant is a high school senior they must include a letter of acceptance from an accredited college or university. Questions often arise concerning how to draft the contract to address such issues as ethical practices, global regulations, intellectual property, licenses and social responsibility. Supply professionals are guided by laws and regulations to answer these questions. This satellite seminar will look at key considerations in the contracting process, including how to identify the terms and conditions that are important for you and your company, and how to draft an agreement that will be effective in today's business environment. 3 NAPM AUGUSTA AREA GOLF COMMITTEE REPORT ANNUAL SPRING GOLF TOURNAMENT Sylvia Humphrey, Golf Committee Team Member (706) This year s tournament starts at noon Monday, April 18, 2011 Houndslake Country Club in Aiken, SC. We still need every member s help to make this tournament a success for players, sponsors and as our chapter's primary fundraiser. Last minute interest in a team? Payment is Due April 15. A letter to sponsors and registration forms follow in this newsletter. I will assist you in faxing or ing applications to your suppliers. We need your help the day of the tournament. Volunteers start the tournament, assist on course and/or play with a team (no charge to you). If you cannot stay all day, we really need help from 10 am to Noon with set up or registering players and sponsors. Great prizes and professional signs on the course are a focus for quality this year. It s not too late to donate. Thanks to those who have contributed so much to the tournament already. It is really critical to the success of this year s programs that each member help the tournament in some way. I look forward to hearing from you. All of this goes toward a good cause. The NAPM Augusta Area Inc. uses the proceeds to raise money for scholarships and member education.
