4 AIS Service Opportunity! Service Opportunity Update: Good news! There is now (I just learned) a very flexible way any Al-Anon member could step up to the service position of Schedule Keeper that will be opening soon. This is a straight-forward task of updating the Pierce County AFG brochure each month and sending it out for District and AIS leaders to distribute. No experience, equipment, or special software is required if you are willing to meeting with me for demonstration or skill-building at any of the Pierce County Library branches, since their public computers already have Microsoft Publisher 2010 available for use. If this sounds interesting to you, please contact me at lauraktoday@gmail.com to suggest which library to meet at on which day. In September, the best days for me are the week of Tuesday Sept. 8th through Monday Sept. 14th, and in October, from Friday Oct. 9 through Thursday Oct. 15th. Reservations to use a computer can be made up to two days in advance. Here is a view of where county library branches are: org/files/library/locations-map.pdf and here are their hours: branch-listing.htm. About 30 years ago, this is exactly how I learned desktop publishing, meeting with a fellow volunteer at the Tacoma Public Library. We had a blast, and I look forward to meeting an Al-Anon member who is ready to stretch their service wings in this way, too! Al-Anon Information Services is all about Step Twelve, and you might be just the person who could help Pierce County Al-Anon reach out to be there for someone in need. -- Laura K, lauraktoday@gmail.com, Literature Distribution Center Books Available for Purchase Alateen Hope for Children of Alcoholics $7.50 One Day at a Time in Al-Anon $11 One Day at a Time in Al-Anon Large Print $14 Courage to Change $14 From Survival to Recovery: Growing Up in an Alcoholic Home $16 Paths to Recovery - Al-Anon s Steps, Traditions, and Concepts $19 Living Today in Alateen $13 Hope for Today $14 Opening Our Hearts, Transforming Our Losses $14 Discovering Choices $15 How Al-Anon Works for Families & Friends $6 Newcomer packets $1.40 Contact Renee S dr_district_12@wa-al-anon.org SPONSORS networking with SPONSORS II Come join the meeting of Sponsors Share your Experience, Strength and Hope about Sponsorship in a casual, supportive & confidential environment. ALL are welcome! If you would like to share your E S & H at this meeting, please contact Lois G (Al-Anon contact) (253) or loisg@otshows.com I have learned to keep my side of the street clean, and only my side. When I let go of this fantasy of power over someone or something else, I move toward hope and serenity. As someone who wants to be a constant doer or fixer, I have to Let Go and Let God or Live and Let Live. As I learned to become an observer of my surroundings, instead of a reactor to my surroundings, harmony came out of the confusion. I learned that in order to find peace and serenity, I was the one who had to change. That was all. I didn t have to change everything else, only myself.
