2 Chaplain s Corner I imagine that at some time in your life you have endured a flowery message of some sort. Flowery sermons or speeches are adorned with words that are not needed and often distract from their message. When listening to such a speech, people often think to themselves, Just get to the point, or Please, just give us the plain facts. Jesus once used flowery words to do just the opposite; to get to the point of his message. He said, Consider the lilies, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; [5] yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not clothed like one of these. 28 But if God so clothes the grass By Doug Graham of the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, how much more will he clothe you (Luke 12:27-28; NRSV). By suggesting that his hearers Consider the lilies, Jesus eliminated the need to present a long drawn out explanation about why his audience did not need to worry about getting the clothing they needed. This month our community is presenting its annual Flower Show. Let me encourage you to Consider the lilies as you walk around the display, in order to remind yourself that God will meet your every need. Spiritual Connections In Loving Memory Bible Studies Tuesdays at 10:30am in the Board Room Wednesdays at 1:30pm in the Maplewood Club Room

PBC s Tax Exemption Volunteer Hours By Jane Evans By Kate Roberts As a tax exempt organization PBC is obligated to contribute to the greater good of our local area. We do this in a number of ways such as welcoming non-residents to take part in our support group meetings, the Senior Expo & Health Fair and the Flower Show. In an effort to ensure our continued non-profit status we would like your help. If you volunteer outside of PBC we would like to know about it! If you volunteer for your church, local hospital, or another charitable organization (such as Manna on Main Street, the Library) we would like to know how often in a week, a month, or year so we can include your service in how PBC residents benefit our community at large. Please contact Kate Roberts by phone at or via e- mail at kroberts@peterbeckercommunity.com if you wish to have your hours included in our effort. This tax exemption saves PBC hundreds of thousands of dollars annually. Personal Care and Skilled Nursing Tax Deductable Statement Residents of Personal Care and Skilled Nursing may claim a portion of their room and board and other charges as a medical expense for federal income tax purposes. If you need a statement please see the Social Services Department. Volunteer Corner By Janelle Rambo Dear Peter Becker Community, I would like to introduce myself as the new Volunteer Coordinator. Before taking this new role I was working in the Life Enrichment department for almost four years. Over that time I have had the privilege to get to know residents and staff. As I start this new chapter, I hope to continue to meet new faces and help build our volunteer base. I am a graduate of Gwynedd Mercy University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Behavioral and Social Gerontology. Along with eight years experience and my degree I have various certifications in the field of long term care. I am looking forward to starting this role and continue to serve the community. The Gift Shop at Ridgeview is looking for new volunteers, and there are still openings for help at the Flower Show. If you are interested or know someone interest please call me at ext or pick up a volunteer application. Please call Janelle ext or stop by the Volunteer Office to sign up for Flower Show! We have many spots to fill and need your help! We are always looking for new help! If you would like to try out Volunteering, today is the day!
