In Memory of Peter D. Curry we would like to acknowledge ongoing support for our Breakfast Club/Walking School Bus. Basic Shelf Cooking Program The long awaited cooking program The Basic Shelf Cookbook is now taking registration from interested families. The Basic Shelf Cookbook is a program designed specifically for low-income families and provides participants with information on nutrition, meal planning, how to properly store food, and a shopping guide on how to save money and still provide healthy meals for our families. The cooking program has been designed from The Basic Shelf Cookbook where all of the recipes cooked are made from one list of low-cost, nutritious ingredients that make up what we call the Basic Shelf Pantry. A Registration & Information Workshop will be on February 21st from 1:00-3:00 at the Resource Centre. All interested participants need to attend the Registration & Information Workshop.

2 Plessis Food Bank Food Bank continues to run on an on-going basis every second Monday from 1:00-2:00 p.m. The schedule for February is Feb. 12th Feb. 26th 1:00-2:00 (Registered Clients) 1:00-2:00 (Registered Clients) To register for the Plessis Food Bank you either need to see Debra at the Reource Centre and register permanantly for the Plessis Food Bank or call Winnipeg Harvest yourself every time and register for the Plessis Food Bank. Please bring bags or boxes with you. If you need more information see Debra or Melissa in the Family Resource Centre. 3 Youth Advisory Meeting If you are between the ages of 5-17 years old and live here in Housing we would like to have your ideas and direction in developing youth programming in the community. We will be holding the next Youth Advisory Meeting on February 22, from 5:30-6:00 p.m. Breakfast & Walking School bus Program Breakfast is served from 7:30-7:50 a.m. every day that there is school. The Walking School Bus leaves the Family Centre for Bernie Wolf Community School about 8:00. The Breakfast Program is available to all youth living in the Housing community and attending school. The Walking School Bus is open to families with children attending Bernie Wolf Community School. Parents MUST register their children before they are able to attend the Breakfast Program or the supervised Walking School Bus. The Breakfast & Walking School bus Programs are FREE of charge to community families. Families in the Kitchen for parents & their kids. Families in the Kitchen Cooking Program will run Date: January - June, 2018 (Tuesday Evenings 2 times month) Time: 5:00-7:00 Place: PROGRAMS Community Family Resource Centre The Cooking Program is for parents & their kids to cook together and is FREE of charge to all the families participating. If you would like to participate in the Families in the Kitchen Cooking Program PARENTS MUST sign up their family on the Sign up sheet in the Resource Centre every session. Due to the limited space & funding only the families that are signed up will be able to cook! The youth program runs every Thursday from at the Family Centre. Children 6 years old and older can attend without a parent, children under 6 need to have a parent join them during the program. Be kind to each other Children always need to be supervised by parents Please remember to clean up when children are done

4 Upcoming C Future Stars March Madness Fun Fair The Resource Centre is having a March Madness Fun Fair. March 15th from 1:00-3:00 for kids 1-5 years old. We will have lots of activities, games, crafts, face painting & some fun tastic surprises for all of our participating families. After all the Fun tastic March Madness we will have some hotdogs, hamburgers, fruit & veggies. All families that attend will receive fun bags for each of their kids to take home. Registration for the March Madness Fun Fair Is at the Resource Centre. o m m u n i t Y E v e n t s Bernie Wolfe School I LOVE TO READ MONTH!! The Resource Centre is challenging all of our community kids to a Reading Contest. Fill your reading card & YOU may WIN a $25 gift card. Reading Contest rules & supplies will be available at the Resource Centre.
