1 ARIZONA FILIPINO MARTIAL ARTS ASSOCAITION 2017 Activities This document is intended to provide a brief overview of the AFA s 2017 Activities.

2 The AFA, (Arizona Filipino Martial Arts Association) 1, support staff are pleased to inform you of the AFA activities in This is our first year in operation and we believe it is important to keep the community informed. Below you will find information which we are currently working on since the beginning of the year. Each item below is still in working status and might change as we grow. Our Strategy To enable us to move forward we have started with the following strategy. Who we are The AFA is an open organization comprised of Filipino Martial Arts instructors, practitioners, and enthusiasts. Our Vision and Mission Vision We promulgate Filipino Martial Arts, invigorate practitioners, and provide a central location for finding instructors and fellow practitioners. Mission We will provide a central platform for finding and promoting Filipino Martial Arts through planning, organizing, and developing events for parties interested in expanding their knowledge, and for Instructors willing to share their knowledge. Our Core Values 1. Respectful Mannerism Treat others with respect as how you want to be treated Will not intentionally harm another human being mentally or physically Will understand and act appropriately on my emotions Will resist and prevent drama 2. Open Communication and Trust Encouraged to share thoughts without worry being mindful of positive thinking and resolution To openly communicate your concerns with any other members, be positive and constructive, attempt to control any negative emotions and their influence To be professional and light hearted at all times when associated with AFA 3. Collaboration and Growth Inspire, support one another, work and develop as one positively Tolerance, Respect, and Recognition of the differences, beauty, and positives of other systems To help each other become better FMA practitioners, and instructor To not provoke, criticize, or attack other systems verbally but rather invigorate FMA practitioners Will be productive for myself, my family, my friends, my community, and my society To be passionate, to care, to promote, and to have honor & respect 1

3 Our Structure We currently have the following organizational structure with the support members currently using aspects of the Holacracy 2 organizational type. Support Members Support members focus on enabling the AFA grow and become successful. They embrace AFA s strategy: Vision, Mission, and core values. Instructor Members Instructor members are practitioners who teach within the community. Members These are all other members who have an interest in Filipino martial arts. Activities The following activities are associated with the AFA. Communication We are working to provide communication around activities associated with the Filipino martial arts community. This can include raising public awareness of the beauty, simplicity, and effectiveness of FMA Collaboration We are working to provide a means to enable collaboration between the different FMA communities, practitioners, instructors, and other martial arts Events We are working to provide events enabling communication and collaboration between the different FMA communities and other martial arts communities. This can be through hosting workshops, seminars, demonstrations, tournaments, community outreach, etc Training We are working to provide outlets for practitioners to foster camaraderie, cooperation, respect, and quality in training 2
