1 From Our Editor Gerardo Alfonso, webmaster This is our first edition of our chapter newsletter. We want to express our gratitude to all the people that made this possible. Our chapter was stablished by the end of 2010 and this fiscal year (July , June ) was a wonderful year. We participate in the CIAR 2013 (Conferencia Iberoamericana del Aire Acondicionado y la Refrigeración) event with more than 700 visitors and with the participation of several Ashrae members from around the world. There were a lot of technical conferences, the Society President Bill Bahnfleth opened the show, Tom Lawrence, Roberto Aguilo, Victor Goldschmidt and Ross Montgomery gave lectures. Florentino Rosson leadered a golf tournament and we had our chapter meeting there, in Cartagena. The students were supporting the conference organization. In our chapter meeting of April we had four lecturers, DL Don Beaty, David Gallaher, Juan Rodriguez and Hugo Salinas. They talk about Data Centers. There were 68 participants. Our last year chapter meeting was on June 10. Presidential member Ron Jarnagin gave us a talk about ASHRAE Standar 90.1 and Projected 90.4 (Data Center). We count more than 20 people. By the end of April we launched our web page. The purpose of this tool is to serve as a mechanism of comunication for all of our members. The main goal of our chapter is to serve our members bringing them the resources of knowledge requested to improve the way they design, build, operate and maintain the systems they work. This is our contribution to build a better country and a better society. We hope more members join us in order to change our industry for the benefit of all the people that lives in Colombia. As you can see, in this year our chapter contribute to the learning of a lot of technician and engineers as a real value of our chapter members. We invite all of you to attend our meetings and to comunicate with us in order to bring you the conferences on the subjects that most matter you. This e-newsletter is a summary of the activities of our chpater during May and June, colombia.ashraechapters.org 1 1
