2 Apologies Sammy Jo Sweeney (Cookstown Adult Centre) Helen Palmer (Mountfern Centre) 1. Minutes of the last meeting 27 February 2014 Ursula read out the minutes of the last meeting. Isobel told The Forum that they had asked clients in Base and Adult Centres about closing the centres at Christmas and most wanted to stay at home with their families. Janet told The Forum that they had meetings with Community Transport and with the help of The Fixers a video was made of the problems accessing transport. The Forum all agreed that they would like to see this video at our next meeting. Emma informed the group that all the transport problems were now sorted. Alison told everyone how important The Forum is to the Trust. She advised that Garth Anderson has now moved jobs and Nicola who supported Ursula has also moved on. Isobel and Janet are now attending the meetings to support it. Alison thanked everyone for helping with the Panel. Alison advised that Amanda, Ursula, Emma, and Joe were all trained to sit on an interview panel. Alison told everyone that the training would be available again and asked if anyone else would like to be trained. Jacqueline Hogg, Emma Rea, Iris McFetridge and Trevor Purden would all like to be trained.

3 Isobel told The Forum that the Trust s Personal and Sexual Relationship policy is with the Senior Management Team and money has been allocated to provide 4 training sessions for staff. This will then help staff support service users. The Forum agreed the minutes. 2. Feedback from Panel As The Forum hadn t met for a year Ursula asked everyone if they had done anything interesting in the past year, as a way of catching up. Kevin and Amanda went to a pool tournament at the Lodge Hotel Jacqueline went to Poland with the Holocaust Project Sarah went to Portstewart for a weekend away and is attending a wedding this year Emma Rea is a Fixer and helped fix transport and traffic light problems Ryan went on holiday to Dublin for a few days Eileen went to Brighton for a family occasion Amanda and Ursula went to America to a Best Buddies International event. Amanda designed a T-shirt for 2000 people and Ursula was picked to do a speech. Video to be shown at the next meeting Iris has Janet as her best buddy and they go for coffee George Sloan Centre went to Stormont

4 Trevor went on holiday to Donegal and Portrush Emma Patterson raised money for the life boats doing a sponsored walk Alison got her garden paved Gareth supports Glentoran football club and travels to all the matches Lynda got a kitten Isobel done a memory walk for Alzhiemers Hayley went to a formal ball at the Clarion Hotel Janet went to New York Josie moved into a new home Debbie went to Disney Land with her children Kelly moved house and got a puppy called Stella Amanda celebrated being married almost 20 years Evelyn went to Majorca on holiday Janet told The Forum that most of the women in the Forum will be attending a Women Wise Project starting on 24 th March, which runs for 12 weeks. 3. The Way Forward The Forum all agreed that it would be good if Alyson Dunn, the Assistant Director came to the next meeting to meet the members and to talk about learning disability services. The Forum also agreed that we should invite the Chief Executive to a future meeting. Alison and Ursula to write an invite letter.

5 It was suggested that The Forum develop training to help educate staff working in Emergency Departments. Some members of The Forum are already involved with the University in training nurses. Amanda, Trevor, Emma Rea, Emma Patterson, Jacqueline, Ursula, Sarah, Iris, Gareth and Josie would all like to be involved in developing and delivering this training. The Forum agreed that a video may be a good way to help train staff. It was suggested that the Social Enterprise Centre or the Fixers could help with the filming of this video. Isobel and Alison agreed to look for funding to help with this project perhaps through the Charitable Trust Funds. Janet told The Forum that Virgina Maxwell and her son Peter had a lot of bad experiences attending emergency departments and hospitals. When they went to Craigavon hospital they had a designated person there to help with their journey. She is going to check with Virgina if she would be available to speak at the training. The Forum agreed that the best day for Forum meetings would be a Wednesday. Date of the next meeting will be arranged for a Wednesday. Alison reminded all Forum members to bring their black files with them to each meeting. Ursula thanked everyone for attending the meeting.
