1 REVIEW OF 2017 We started the year in January with publicity for ICUsteps Tees on the South Tees NHS Foundation Trust website including Case studies of group members and an electronic version of The Fight for Survival Poetry Book followed by further publicity for the group in Your View with Lindsay Garcia discussing a real lifeline in the Gazette in February Our February meeting celebrated Julie s special birthday with a delicious cake baked by Joanne Followed by a talk from Andy Mawson GNAAS In March Diane participated in Service User Involvement in Critical care research developing best practice guidance using lived experience with Dr Suzanne Bench at Kings College London results should be published February 2018

2 Our April Easter Fundraising Tombola took place in the University of North Tees Hospital raising funds for ICUsteps Tees An excellent article A Real Lifeline raising awareness of critical care survivors and our ICUsteps Tees group featured in the April edition of Talking Point South Tees NHS Hospital Foundation trust magazine ICUsteps Tees members Michael and Diane attended the 7 th Annual Rehabilitation after critical illness and ICUsteps Event in May at Jury s in to share patient and relative experiences and also to share insight into our incredible support group.

3 Michael & Diane sharing patient/relative experiences Fundraising for ICUsteps Tees in the Nationwide Darlington in June and raising awareness of critical illness The Palmer Bousfield Team and John the sheep In June our guest speaker was Ben Townsend from Stewarts Law who talked to ICUsteps Tees members to offer advice and support Ben and his colleagues have continued to support us throughout the year Thank you Ben In June Michael Power stood down as Chair of ICUsteps Tees and relocated to Wales.

4 Margaret continued as Treasurer until the AGM in September and Angela stood up to the role of Chair from Vice Chair until the AGM Jan Craig Therapeutic Care Support Worker at The James Cook University Hospital attended our group to talk to members about their experiences in ICU and HDU. The team are hoping to develop their services to patients families and medical staff from feedback received July was the ICUsteps Tees Summer outing Teesside Princess River cruise A great time was had by all relaxing on the river Delicious afternoon tea on the river

5 August welcomed two new members to our group Chris & Pauline Marwood Lee & Alison from Carers Together attended our August drop in to talk to members and provide information and leaflets they have also dropped in to further sessions and contact details are on our monthly news updates September was our AGM and our new Chair was appointed Michael Palmer after revisiting ICU again earlier in the year

6 Angela Richter was appointed as Treasurer Diane Bousfield re-elected as Secretary New Committee members Julie and Richard Penniford were welcomed to join re-elected committee member Elizabeth Fenton and re-elected health professionals Lindsay Garcia Lorraine Reidy and Julie Platten from NoECCN Nationwide Building Society Darlington held a Halloween fundraising week for ICUsteps Tees throughout the October half term school holidays Guess the number of spooky treats in the bottle Diane & Michael raising awareness of the critical care journey at North Of England Critical Care Annual Conference in Durham

7 The James Cook University Hospital fundraising and raising awareness of critical illness event took place in November another fabulous fundraising event for ICUsteps Tees Michael with Ben and James from Stewarts Law & our ICUsteps Tees raising awareness of critical care stand

8 The Unicorn with her new owner home and name Watermelon Teesside University raising awareness session for ITU nurses from South Tees, North Tees and Darlington Memorial Hospital through The Fight for Survival Diane & Tony

9 The Fight for Survival continues to sell copies raising money for ICUsteps Tees and awareness of the critical care journey hopefully helping other critical care patients and their families. Electronic copies available via South Tees NHS website which University of Teesside are using as an educational tool for ICU nurses. There are also copies circulated to all ICU & HDU units in Hospitals in the North of England also in Kings College London and St Georges Hospital London who are using it as an educational training tool.
