2 From Our Presidents Dear BNC Friends, What fun we had at our last program, Inside the Jewish Bakery, with Stanley Ginsberg, author and speaker. He made us nostalgic for the wonderful cakes, pastries, and breads we used to buy in New York and other local bakeries most of us grew up with. Vernon Kahn reminded us locals of his Jewish Bakery in San Diego. Best of all were the desserts baked by some of our brave members from the recipes in Stanley s book. A big thank you to everyone who baked and also to all those who helped set up and greet, including Linda Simon, Ethel Roffis, Lynne Charap, Renee Bloom, Selena Parker-Plotkin and those of you who walked in and said What can I do to help? You all did a tasty and beautiful job. As our year soon comes to a close, we look forward to our annual Book and Author program on March 12th at The Country Club of Rancho Bernardo, and our installation and silent auction on May 14th. Of course we still have work to do as our study groups continue and we start to work on a new committee called Outreach/ Marketing Focus Group, led by Pauline Green, and inspired by the visit last November of Janice Fineman, our BNC Executive Director. You will be hearing more about this soon. It is holiday time again, and we both send our best wishes to all of our members for a Happy Passover and a wonderful Easter. We also thank you for your continued support. It is much appreciated. With warm regards, Joan and Gerri Mission Statement Brandeis National Committee is dedicated to providing philanthropic support to Brandeis University, a distinguished liberal arts and research university founded by the American Jewish Committee. Its membership is connected to the University through fundraising and through activities that reflect the values on which the university was founded: academic excellence, social justice, non-sectarianism, and service to the community.
