Each of the sessions is designed to offer a quality learning experience delivered in a participative style, by Pfizer and specialist partner organisations. thinkspace forms part of Pfizer s commitment to responsibly support the patient advocacy community. This session will help you get more out of a limited budget and give you the tools to improve the effectiveness of your communications. 11 Here s what to do Who can attend thinkspace? thinkspace is open to any UK-based patient organisation working to support the health of patients and carers. Whether a member of staff, a volunteer or a trustee, take a look at the session outline and decide who from your organisation would be best to attend given their role, knowledge and skills. How many thinkspace sessions can we sign up for? You can apply for one or more thinkspace sessions, according to your organisation s needs. Initially, places are limited to one per organisation for any given session. However, you can send additional names to go on a waiting list for additional people from your organisation should there be any free or remaining spaces. How much does thinkspace cost? thinkspace sessions are free of charge to attend but attendees will need to pay their own travel expenses. You will be asked to pay a 50 security deposit for each booking. This deposit will be returned on completion of your booked sessions. If you do not attend your booked session (or send a suitable alternative colleague) your deposit will be retained. 12 Trainer biographies Bertie Bosrédon Digital Engagement & Social Media, Breast Cancer Care Bertie has over 15 years experience in digital communications (and an indelible French accent). He set up British Heart Foundation s first online team before joining Breast Cancer Care to develop a busy online community, innovative online tools, and an influential social media strategy. Bethan Brookes Senior Campaigning Consultant, NCVO Bethan Brookes is Senior Advisor (Campaigning) at the National Council for Voluntary Organisations. Specialising in popular campaigning, she manages NCVO s Certificate in Campaigning developing and delivering campaign training for aspiring campaigners. Bethan is a member of the Campaigning Advisory Board and also delivers campaign coaching to award winning young campaigners. She has extensive experience in working for a range of international development charities, including ActionAid, Oxfam and the World Development Movement. Maggie Campbell Stakeholder Strategy Manager, Pfizer Ltd Maggie Campbell works on Pfizer UK s Stakeholder Strategy team and is responsible for managing the company s corporate volunteering programme and other colleague engagement initiatives, as well as managing the organisation s local community investment strategy. She has been instrumental in engaging almost 40% of Pfizer s staff in volunteering and has significantly shaped both of the organisation s signature skillsbased volunteering programmes, Thinkathon and Health Relief Mentors. Selina Fox Director, Randall Fox Selina has twenty years experience in building communications teams and helping them find new direction and focus. She has held senior communications posts in the arts, international development and in a commercial PR agency. She now specialises in strategic planning, message development and mentoring for clients such as VSO, Friends of the Earth, the Economic and Social Research Council, Skillshare Africa, Hope and Homes for Children and the Royal Academy of Engineering.

13 Melanie Heaver Stakeholder Strategy Manager, Pfizer Ltd Working in Pfizer s Stakeholder Strategy team, Melanie Heaver is responsible for the organisation s corporate giving and community investment strategies and engagement programmes in the UK. She has been involved with the Pfizer UK Foundation, Pfizer s flagship grant-making initiative which supports community organisations across the UK seeking to address local health inequalities since 2005, being instrumental in its establishment and managing the programme for the organisation. She was appointed Chair in Denise Hunt Patient Relationship Manager, Pfizer Ltd Denise has been a member of the Patient Relationship team at Pfizer UK for 18 months. In this role she is involved in delivering patient focused programmes such as Pfizer Life and Pfizer Lifelines, initiatives that strive to improve accessibility of information for patients and gather insights into the lives of people living with a long term or rare condition. Denise also engages with patient organisations across several diverse therapy areas such as Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension and Smoking Cessation. Denise has worked for Pfizer for 12 years and previously was part of the sales team as a Network Manager. Working with clinicians in the NHS she was involved in setting up the Bristol Respiratory Interest Group. Rob Jackson Associate Consultant, NCVO Rob is an NCVO Associate Consultant and Director of Rob Jackson Consulting Ltd. Rob has over 17 years experience working in the voluntary and community sector in roles that have focused on leading and engaging volunteers, most recently as Director of Development and Innovation at Volunteering England. Rob is also an active volunteer, including serving as chair of governors for a large Lincolnshire primary school. Chris James Chief Executive, Haemophilia Society Chris joined the Haemophilia Society as Chief Executive in July 2007, where he is responsible for strategic and operational management. He maintains and develops the Society s profile as an active and influential patient organisation, which advocates for people affected by bleeding disorders. Chris has spent over 20 years working for voluntary sector organisations in the UK including Diabetes UK, Samaritans and Rett Syndrome Association UK. He is a member of the Department of Health and Haemophilia Alliance Advisory Group and a number of other national bodies for bleeding disorders and rare and long term health conditions.

14 Susannah Randall Director, Randall Fox Susannah has specialised in resolving complex communication problems in the science, health and development sectors. As Head of Communications for the Wellcome Trust, she re-structured the division, led a major review of the Trust s publishing activity, and revamped the press office, transforming the charity s ability to influence debates about medical research. Prior to this, she oversaw an NHS campaign targeted at junior doctors that won two Institute of PR excellence awards. She is currently a trustee for a small charity (Home-Start Reading). Chloe Stables Parliamentary and Media Manager, NCVO Chloe is the Parliamentary and Media Manager at the National Council for Voluntary Organisations. She has extensive knowledge of the UK political system and over seven years experience working in politics. She is responsible for building relationships with decision makers and co-ordinates NCVO s external relations work. Prior to joining NCVO, Chloe worked for an MP and for a large public affairs consultancy before establishing the public affairs team at St Mungo s, a London-based homelessness charity. Sam Taylor National Policy Lead, Pfizer Ltd Sam is currently the National NHS Policy Lead for Pfizer UK and sits on the leadership team of the Customer Access directorate. This role develops the understanding, insight and partnership between Pfizer and a number of the evolving national organisations in the new NHS architecture, such as the National Commissioning Board and Public Health England. Sam also represents Pfizer at the ABPI, sitting on the Hardwiring Uptake, Implementing Quality Outcomes and Metrics Oversight Group. These give Sam a good perspective of the challenges facing the pharmaceutical industry and the NHS over the coming years. Olof Williamson Sustainable Funding Consultant, NCVO Olof Williamson works to improve the financial sustainability of organisations in the voluntary and community sector. A skilled trainer and facilitator, Olof has practical experience in designing and delivering advice and training using diverse learning methods. He researches developments in funding and finance for voluntary organisations, focusing on trading and enterprise.
