2 Message from the Program Chair It is my pleasure as the program chair to invite you to the upcoming American College of Phlebology (ACP) Ultrasound Course, to be held at the Renaissance Newark Airport Hotel in Newark, NJ. The ACP recognizes the need for providing this type of education to meet the requests of physicians, technologists, and other healthcare professionals. We believe a greater understanding and increased proficiency in diagnostic and therapeutic phlebology ultrasound applications results in improved patient care. We assembled an experienced faculty to share their knowledge with you. This is a one day course on ultrasound duplex imaging of the deep and superficial venous system. The one day condensed format includes a combination of didactic lectures, along with a hands-on workshop, and is designed to cover both the investigation protocols and diagnostic criteria. Additionally, the course includes a brief overview and application of venous ablation techniques. This course is intended for providers, sonographers, and other allied health care professionals who desire to learn or to improve their understanding of venous ultrasound physics and instrumentation, venous lower extremity ultrasound evaluation, and mapping for vein ablation procedures. 3 Course Information The Ultrasound Course is intended for providers, sonographers, and other allied health care professionals who desire to learn or to improve their understanding of venous ultrasound physics and instrumentation, venous lower extremity ultrasound evaluation and mapping for vein ablation procedures. Educational Objectives After completion of this course, participants will be able to: Recognize anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology of the deep and superficial venous systems. Deep vein thrombosis, superficial thrombophlebitis, deep and superficial venous insufficiency Typical and unusual presentations of venous hemodynamics Recognize roles of b-mode, color and spectral Doppler ultrasound in making the diagnosis of DVT, DVI, SVT and SVI. Perform an all-inclusive lower extremity venous examination, using proper technique and protocol on patients with common and complicated venous disorders. Document all pertinent findings and suspected pathology and create a comprehensive and precise venous mapping. Recognize the main pitfalls in venous extremity ultrasound, and apply the technical and clinical pearls and tips. 5 Registration Information Registration for the Ultrasound Course is open to Technologist Members, Technologist Non-Members, Physician Members, and Physician Non-Members. Online registration is available at You may also choose to print off a registration form and fax or mail this in with payment. Advance registration closes Friday, April 10, 2015 (OR when the course has been filled). Please note that an additional $75.00 processing fee will be charged to all on-site registrations, though if the course fills to capacity, there will be no on-site registration available. Register early to guarantee your participation. All registrations will be accepted on a first come-first served basis. Cancellations and Refunds Registration fees, less a $75.00 administrative fee, will be refunded upon notice of cancellation to the headquarters office in writing. In order to qualify for a refund of fees, your cancellation notice must be received no later than March 31,2015. There will be no refund of fees for cancellations received after that date or for lack of attendance. The hotel confirms the following guest room rates for our group: Single/Double - $ taxes. Attendees must register for the course before making their reservations at the host hotel. Once your registration has been processed, you will be sent a confirmation from the ACP headquarters office which will include details for making your reservations at the hotel. All reservations must be made by Thursday, April 2, However, the group block is limited in size and will be filled on a firstcome first-served basis. Reservations received after the room block is filled or after April 2, 2015 will be accepted on a space available basis and prevailing hotel rates. Check-in time is 4:00pm and check-out time is 12:00pm. Guests arriving before 3:00pm will be assigned accommodations as they become available.
