Getting Started Welcome to a NEW way of goal setting to help you get CLARITY with your goals and stay focused on the BIGGER picture of what you want to accomplish both professionally and personally. Traditional goal setting focuses on and not. You are most likely familiar with goals that are: S M A R T This process will provide the you need for exactly what you want to accomplish while focusing on the of achieving the goal rather than on the BARBARA C. ALEXANDER. ALL RIGHTS RESERVED. 2
Reflection Setting goals isn t just an annual or monthly process. It s something we work toward EVERY DAY building upon what s working, eliminating what s not working or producing results and implementing new practices or habits. It s important to regularly and our accomplishments as a critical piece to reaching our goals. What are you most proud of and why? What are you most grateful for and why? BARBARA C. ALEXANDER. ALL RIGHTS RESERVED. 3
Reflection List 10 of the amazing things that you recently accomplished that you are proud of (personally and professionally). CELEBRATE both the BIG and SMALL WINS! BARBARA C. ALEXANDER. ALL RIGHTS RESERVED. 4
Create Your Vision As you answer the following questions, keep in mind all the possibilities without focusing on HOW to get there. Often times we limit ourselves to what we are capable of because we don t know yet how to get there. That comes later If you knew you couldn t fail, how would you answer these questions? What do I desire to achieve this year (in my business and personally)? What would I like to do or experience (and with whom)? BARBARA C. ALEXANDER. ALL RIGHTS RESERVED. 5
Create Your Vision What would I like to have or own? Who would I like to be or become? What would I like to contribute to my family, my clients/colleagues, my community? BARBARA C. ALEXANDER. ALL RIGHTS RESERVED. 6
Create Your Intentions An intention is what most people would call a. An intention focuses on what we desire AND along with having a plan to attain it vs. the. It s important to be specific and clear on your stated intentions by creating a CLEAR, CONCISE and MENTAL picture of what you want to accomplish. Be as specific or as measurable as you can. Examples of professional intentions: Developing a certain number of leaders in your organization or team Increase your visibility through 3 speaking engagements a quarter Increasing your sales volume or income growth through more referrals Examples of personal intentions: Improving your health and fitness through better nutrition and regular exercise Strengthening relationship with family, children, spouse through better communication and quality time together Improving household financials/budget by regularly reviewing expenses BARBARA C. ALEXANDER. ALL RIGHTS RESERVED. 7
Create Your Intentions Choose two professional intentions and two personal intentions that you desire achieving within one year. It could be something that s important one month from now, 6 months or one year from now. List those that would be most impactful in your life or in your business in the short term: My two professional intentions for the coming year: My two personal intentions for the coming year: BARBARA C. ALEXANDER. ALL RIGHTS RESERVED. 8
Develop Your Action Steps Professional Intention # 1: Actions: Professional Intention # 2: Actions: BARBARA C. ALEXANDER. ALL RIGHTS RESERVED. 9
Develop Your Action Steps Personal Intention # 1: Actions: Personal Intention # 2: Actions: BARBARA C. ALEXANDER. ALL RIGHTS RESERVED. 10
Word of the Year The Word-of-the-Year practice taps into the BE level of your intentions which truly embraces the process of achieving your goals. It focuses less on the and more on the. A WORD has energy. You can attach imagery and meaning to a word that will inspire you to take action. Choose ONE word that encompasses your intention for BEING for this year. Some examples: Abundance Action Adventurous Bold Committed Compassionate Confidence Determined Expansive Fearless Focused Generosity Grounded Growth Integrity Intention Joyful Knowing Mastery Passion Peace Perseverance Possibilities Powerful Presence Robust Receiving Release Resilience Self Trust Serve Stretch Thrive Truth Vibrancy Wealth BARBARA C.
