4 Beginning September 1, 2017 the main service center of Catholic Social Services (CSS) will become a completely smoke & tobacco-free property. The decision to move forward with implementing a tobacco-free workplace policy comes in response to expressed staff concerns from the employee survey administered in May Those findings highlighted the observation of frequent non-compliance with current designated smoking areas, concerns about exposure to secondhand smoke, and complaints of tobacco/cigarette litter on the grounds. Adopting a comprehensive tobacco-free policy is a way to protect the health of everyone involved with the organization. The smoke & tobacco-free policy enforcement applies to all management, employees, contractors, clients, volunteers, and visitors to the main service center. The entire property of the Main Center, including leased/owned buildings, the grounds, and loading/parking areas, will be smoke & tobacco-free at all times. The policy was sent out in an on July 26th. I ask you to please read it thoroughly to familiarize yourself with our workplace smoke & tobaccofree stance. If you have any questions regarding the policy please direct these to Brigette Guzy, Human Resources Director, I ask that you please sign and date the policy and turn it into HR by August 31, This is very important to me personally, and I want to thank each of you who has contributed to the development of our tobacco-free policy and I ask you to work with us to implement it together. Our goal is to create a healthy, smoke-free workplace.
