2 Arkansas Our Team: Peggy Whitby, Hollie Lawless, and Laura Reynolds Successes: Strong LTSAE team. Drives policy and statewide initiatives We have access to the ADDM state data to guide our interventions. Diagnosis is much too late in our state. We can use this data to support our efforts. Screening materials are distributed statewide. We want to know about: Development of partnerships with agencies that can help us reach rural, minority, and children from poverty System for using LTSAE versus dissemination. 5 About the Centennial State CO-CANDO is an all volunteer committee that helps us to evaluate the needs and successes of our efforts to implement the Ten Year Strategic Plan Our Part C/Early Intervention data collection was revised specifically to include a diagnosis of ASD Use of Standardized Developmental Screening Tool 45% of all practices that see children which includes family practices are now using a standardized developmental screening tool 92% of pediatric practices are now using a standardized developmental screening tool

6 Our Goals Improve data collection across systems that utilizes existing systems for an integrated analysis rather than creating a stand alone system for only ASD Ensure that implementation of the Affordable Care Act builds upon existing state mandates and increases access to ASD services Develop relationships and collaborations that support the sustainability of the Ten Year Strategic Plan for ASD To Golf, Fish, Hike, and Hunt all at the same time

7 Connecticut Our Team: Ann Gionet, Tierney Giannotti, Doriana Vicedomini Successes: Surveyed clinical staff at CT Medical Home Initiative about screening of young children for ASD, barriers, resources and training needs. Staff provided ASD Educating Practices in Communities (EPIC) in Medical Home sites. We want to know about: How other states addressed screening barriers including screening tools, training, and educational tools utilized. 8 Mississippi Our Team: Dr. Jane Siders, Dr. Elizabeth Felder, Beth Bruton, C.P.N.P., and Dr. Alicia Westbrook Successes: Primary care providers have increased their autism specific screens and referrals for further diagnostic evaluations. We want to know about: how states are collecting data on screening and referral practices; how states successfully implement state wide screening days Our Resources:

9 North Dakota Our Team: Support Autism in North Dakota (SAND) Lori Garnes, PHD (Principal Investigator), Hilory Liccini, MS (Project Director),Rhonda Weather M. ED and Christine Brigden, LSW Successes: The North Dakota Governor appointed an ASD Task Force in 2008 to develop a state plan of action. Now in 2014, North Dakota has a State Autism Coordinator; Autism website; funds to train personnel, hire individuals to evaluate, to teach children with ASD, and to pay for services; and First Annual ND Autism Spectrum Disorders Conference in October SAND Team has crisscrossed the state to 43 of the 53 North Dakota counties through winter storms, gravel back roads, and even hitting a deer. We have trained 375 medical professionals to screen for ASD at 34 facilities and 480 childcare and preschool professionals to screen for ASD at 29 facilities across the North Dakota. We have also trained 4 additional teams across ND to complete interdisciplinary diagnostic evaluations.

10 North Dakota We want to know about: Providers are interested in inter disciplinary Autism diagnosis teams but the billing reimbursement has been a barrier for Providers Our Resources: The North Dakota Autism Resource Booklet and past Autism Link newsletters, National and North Dakota resources and information for Medical, Child Care Professionals and Parent/Caregiver are available on the website.

11 OHIO Our Team: Jessica Foster Ohio Department of Health/CYSHCN Shawn Henry, Donna Owens, Laura Maddox OCALI Nikki Johnson Nisonger Center/The Ohio State University Jody Fisher Ohio Department of DD (Grantee) Successes: Autism Diagnosis Education Project Decrease in lag time from first suspicion to diagnosis Average age of diagnosis reduced to 29.9 months 900 pediatricians trained on ASD and screening 47 Diagnostic Partnership teams formed Autism Education for Medical Students 410 medical students educated on ASD Tele-Early Intervention for ASD Providing intervention through virtual home visits Ranked #1 for state pride We want to know about engaging child care professionals in early identification and outreach to underserved and minority populations Our Resources:
