Yu-Shin Ding, Ph.D. PET MR translational research of brown fat in obesity data analysis and manuscript preparation 1-2 students
Dr. Henry Rusinek (CBI)
Amy Melsaether -Breast MRI -Background parenchymal enhancement and risk -Integrating breast pathology / surgery and oncology into radiology education
Els Fieremans, Ph.D. Our method, called mesomri, is a newly proposed framework that yields high specificity of diffusion MRI metrics to the different underlying degenerative processes by incorporating structural changes at the cellular level. We are looking for medical students to become involved in 2 ongoing clinical translation studies (R01 funded) on Multiple Sclerosis (MR) and Alzheimer s Disease (MR-PET). 2 months full time research projects, if possible. The MS project involves reviewing EPIC charts and PACS images on previously acquired MRI data from clinical cases and controls, and correlating the mesomri metrics with disease duration and severity. The AD project involves analyzing MRI data and correlating with PET (Amyvid and FDG) data, and neurocognitive measures. Medical students will be responsible for literature study, reviewing charts, statistical analysis, and manuscript preparation. A mathematical background and experience with Matlab is a plus, but not necessary. The goal is to write up the findings as a first author abstract and/or publication.
Dr. S. Gene Kim, PhD (CBI) 1. Study on the association of saturated fatty acid with breast cancer in post-menopausal women (1 student) Quantitative measurement of breast density and lipid composition Phantom study for validation 2. PET/MR study of head and neck cancer ( 1 student) Lymph node assessment using dynamic FDG PET and dynamic contrast enhanced MRI Early treatment response assessment
