2 Executive Summary The Business Proton Partners International (PPI) will build, own and operate a network of Proton Beam Therapy Cancer Centres in UK and in international markets. PPI has created a number of wholly owned subsidiary companies; Rutherford Estates, Rutherford Cancer Centres, Rutherford Innovations and Rutherford Diagnostics. Rutherford Cancer Centres offer Radiotherapy, Medical Oncology; Proton Beam Therapy and other ancillary services. Local treatment available to NHS, insured and self pay. Independent asset backed business underpinned by UK investors including Woodford Funds and the Welsh Life Sciences Investment Fund. The Demand Population of UK Incidents of Cancer per annum Radiotherapy Treatment of Patients Radical Radiotherapy Intent to Cure Proton Demand 10% of Radical Radiotherapy Patients 65,640, , ,000 90,000 9,000 The Therapy Proton therapy is a type of radiotherapy used in the treatment of cancer. Unlike conventional radiotherapy the energy distribution of protons can be directed and deposited in designated target areas providing greater precision and, therefore, superior management of treatment resulting in much less damage to non cancerous cells. As a consequence, Proton beam therapy is particularly suitable for paediatric and neural treatment. The normalised capacity of each of the Rutherford Cancer Centres is 400 patients per year. PBT has been considered mainstream medical treatment in the UK since In 2016 the NHS announced that it will fund 1500 patients for proton treatment abroad. The UK Government is investing 250m into building 2 new NHS PBT centres; Manchester's Christie hospital and University College London Hospital, the first of which is scheduled to open in PPI s UK clinics will open between 2017 and Prof Karol Sikora Former Chief of the World Health Organisation s Cancer Programme. Founding member and Clinical Director of Cancer Partners UK. More than 40 years of experience as an oncologist treating patients worldwide. One of the founders of PPI and instrumental in the bringing of Proton Therapy to the UK.

9 Proton Therapy The Science What is Proton Therapy? Proton Therapy is a type of radiation treatment that uses high energy beams of protons to treat cancer. The major advantage of proton treatment over conventional radiation, is that the energy distribution of protons can be targeted more precisely and, therefore, reduce collateral damage to non cancerous cells. Proton Vs Conventional Radiotherapy Plan delivered by Proton Partners Cost / Benefit of Proton Therapy PBT as a cancer treatment achieves substantially improved outcomes in many incidents of cancer currently being treated with radiotherapy. However, traditionally, the incremental cost of PBT relative to conventional radiotherapy has resulted in the application of PBT to those cases where the collateral damage risks are highest, for example; neural, ocular and paediatrics. PPI s business model will reduce delivery costs and is expected to support PBT intervention in a minimum of 10-15% of cases warranting radical radiotherapy.
