Day 7 LOCK motif De VIA 28 Day Challenge Maria Atkinson "Actually I Can" Pastel Oil, 18 x 24 Description: Somewhere some parents or guardians feel frustrated when deaf children (adults) don't listen to what they were telling (shouting) like they knew everything. We may be Deaf, we may not show how much we are aware with life, it is just that we see it, analyze it, and think it through. Just don't overstep on us or we will lock you out!! LOL

Kat Brockway "We Are Not Hiring" Sketch on ipad art paper 53 app (will paint later) Description: deaf folks are often locked out from applying for job opportunities and chances for a promotion. See a deaf person peeking through the locked door's keyhole?

David Call Inner Deaf Soul Locked up Graphite

Patti Durr "to have...to find" 4 x 4 x 6 Assemblage - mixed media Description: (multiple views) Patti Durr me as small d.description: this is a work i posted on the first day of the feb 2015 challenge when the motif was CHAIN. i finally got the door chain and added it tonight and that kinda

fits the LOCK motif too so just updating that the "me as small d" is finally done (i think ; ) Bethaney Hall "Locked In" 8.5 by 11 drawing paper, blue pencil Description: Sometimes I can't share my views on ASL/bi-bi, cochlear implants, TC and so forth around hearing families w/ deaf/hoh children at my job (deaf center). I have to be neutral. So I feel "locked" in. Arrows means the knob can go either way. Combination letters spells: ASL ONLY (my preferred mode of communication) and in the middle it says: Deaf.

Takiyah Harris "Deaf girl left out from the group" Mixed art 10x8 Description: The boy is trying to help Deaf girl to get out from the lock box. Storme Ren Heidi

'by choice'. Acknowledging the privilege of speech, hoh, among my community. I did refuse to speak for years. I am Deaf regardless... Free phone app hopping Hinda Kasher Classroom: Access Denied Fine and broad markers, metallic markers for the ears, 4B pencil on the floor with use of tortillion for blending 2015 Description: I got to the class 15 minutes early and my ASL interpreters weren't there yet. My professor and colleagues talked to each other in front of me and there was nothing I could do to stop this. This is what it looks like everyday in my current program.

Too many error attempts with pass codes and imprinted fingerprint will gain resistive to have an entry. Hacking it with breaking the codes will lock you from being Deaf.

Laurie Rose Monahan "Language Deprived" ipad, Inkflow app Descprion: Long long long time ago, deaf-mute children was locked up for many years. It should be in the front not back!

Nancy Rourke "The Unknown Twelve" 11inch by 14inch oil on canvas Description: This painting is about the twelve Deaf children who died from CI surgeries in Names and ages are unknown. FDA kept documents locked. There you see a safe lock box with a combination lock that says "1984 and FDA." The dots you can see through the safe box are documents that FDA kept and no one can see what's inside. There is a hidden message in the painting. You can see the number "12" where the word "DIED" is written on each black hole. I did a painting "Dots Betrayal" from 31 Days in March project

Diane A. Squires Victim of Oralism' ipad - ArtRage3 Jason JT Tozier The Skeptical Challenge to 'EPHPHATHA' Scholasticism"

Oil based with water color painting Description: It is about the intent of 'be opened to 'H-E-A-R' turfism that we need to recognize as language bigotry and resistance that has a long history, but it is not officially labeled as such. It is to subordinate and intimidate not only signed language but also the entire Deaf community in which it is used. Paul Scearce Title: "Deaf School Closed" Media: Photoshop Description; I used chain link fence for the art theme. 11 state schools currently are known to be in jeopardy by facing drastic budget cuts or closure.
