13 welcome to the world tour 2006 awards programs Three awards programs have been designed for the 2006 Nobel Biocare World Tour conference. The accepted entries will be displayed at the conference venue so you can view them throughout the meeting. Take the opportunity to check out the amazing results of the Creative Circle awards, the outstanding clinical documentation of the C&B&I award competition and the fantastic research reports from the poster programs. Poster Program For the poster program individuals submit a structured abstract and report of a basic or applied research project, or a detailed explanation of a clinical technique or technology used in patient therapy. The accepted entries are displayed on large-scale posters where the findings are presented together with high quality photos documenting the project. C&B&I awards The C&B&I competition is divided into three different categories of clinicians. The participants have submitted documentation of the rehabilitation of a patient using treatment procedures involving crowns and bridges and implants with Nobel Biocare products. The report can be supported by up to eight digital photographs of the therapy. Creative Circle awards The Creative Circle competition is designed to demonstrate beauty and esthetics in dental ceramics. Individuals have submitted documentations of their best ceramic rehabilitation using the NobelRondo veneering porcelain. The patient summary includes a description of the treatment performed together with up to twelve digital photographs of the restorations. Award ceremony The award ceremony honoring the most outstanding entries is held on Saturday afternoon in the Congress Center. Included are researchers, dental specialists, general dentists, technicians, hygienists, dental assistants, office staff and colleagues from other areas and disciplines related to dentistry. BODO HOFFMEISTER Prof. Dr. Dr. Bodo Hoffmeister graduated in He did his medical and dental Education at the Dental School, Medical School Christian-Albrecht- University Kiel where he received his D.D.S in 1975 and his M.D. in In 1982 he became Specialist in Maxillofacial Surgery and in 1986 Specialist in Facial Plastic Surgery in the Department for Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, University Hospital, Christian-Albrechts-University Kiel. In 1989 Prof. Hoffmeister became Deputy chairman and in 1992 Associated Professor of the Department for Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, University Hospital, Christian-Albrechts-University Kiel. Since 1994 he is Chairman of the Department of Maxillofacial Surgery and Facial Plastic Surgery, University Hospital, Charité Campus Benjamin Franklin Berlin. Prof. Hoffmeister s specialties are: treatment of facial deformaties, orthognathic surgery, plastic and reconstructive surgery and implantology. MR. ERNST A. HEGENBARTH Mr. Hegenbarth received his master dental technologist degree following extensive experience as a dental technician and ceramist in Germany. He is the owner of Zen Line Dental, an advanced dental laboratory with an attached post-graduate teaching institute focusing on Premium dental restorations for international customers. Zen Line Dental is also a consultancy for marketing and development of ceramic products, education and publishing. He is the developer of the Creative Color System and the concept for the new NobelRondo Creative Circle ceramics for Alumina and Zirconia. As a member of the European Academy of Esthetic Dentistry and the American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry, he has lectured at numerous international meetings and conducts seminars for postgraduate students and ceramists around the world. He also serves on the editorial boards of several journals and has published a textbook with Quintessence. Creative Ceramic Color: A Practical System, as well as articles in several dental journals on esthetics, dental implants, dental ceramics and CAD/CAM Technology. DR. SIEGMUND DÖTTELMAYER Siegmund Döttelmayer studied general medicine in Graz, Austria, and received his PhD degree in He joined the University Hospital in Graz and got an education in general surgery and accident surgery he joined once more the University of Graz for studying dentistry and received his degree in He opened his own office in Bad Aussee in 1990, with a early specialization in implant surgery he became the head of the department of Implantology at the Emco Privatklinik in Bad Dürrnberg. Since many years he active in education and OP-curses for Nobel Biocare and was involved at the pre-lunch study for NobelGuide. 16

ROLAND GLAUSER Dr. Christian Foitzik studied dentistry and medicine at the Johannes Gutenberg University, Mainz and obtained his doctorate with the title Dr. med. dent. in 1975 and Dr. med. in In 1975, also in Mainz, he started his studies in anthropology specializing in biology and completed them in 1990 at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt/ Main, graduating to Dr. phil. nat. After his specialist training as in oral and facial surgery at the University Hospital of Mainz in 1980, he set up his own practice as an oral and facial surgeon in Darmstadt. He specializes in bone regeneration, implantology and emergency therapy. Dr. Christian Foitzik is also a member of scientific associations such as the DGMKG, the Federal Association of Physicians for Oral and Facial Surgery, the DGI and the DGP etc. Roland Glauser is a graduate of the University of Zürich. Since 1997 Dr. Glauser is assistant professor and senior lecturer at the Department for Fixed Prosthodontics and Dental Materials, University of Zürich. Dr. Glauser is president of the scientific board of the Swiss Society of Oral Implantology SSOI and an active member of the European Association for Osseointegration EAO. He has published numerous articles and text book chapters on the subject of restorative dentistry and osseointegrated implants. He lectured extensively throughout Europe and received an Academy Award for his presentation at the annual AO meeting in Los Angeles in

18 speakers DR. DARIO ADOLFI Dr. Dario Adolfi received his DDS degree from the University of São Paulo in Director of CM ceramics International Ceramic Training Center Lisbon. Lecturer, practical courses and hands on demonstration in South America, Europe, United States, Australia and Asia. Technical Advisor for Ceramic s Company and private clinic in São Paulo Brazil. Author of book «Natural Esthetics», in Portuguese, English, Spanish and Russian, published by Quintessence International. DR. NITZAN BICHACHO Dr. Nitzan Bichacho is professor of prosthodontics and head of the Ronald E. Goldstein Center for Aesthetic Dentistry, Department of Oral Rehabilitation at the Hadassah Medical Campus, Faculty of Dental Medicine, Hebrew University, Jerusalem, the institution from which he graduated in He is Past President and an active member of the prestigious European Academy of Esthetic Dentistry (EAED), and serves as the scientific editor for the professional journal Practical Procedures & Aesthetic Dentistry. He is the recipient of numerous awards conferred by international institutions for his outstanding professional achievements and contribution to esthetic dentistry around the globe. Prof. Bichacho publishes and lectures worldwide before prominent universities and dental academies on and in the fields of dental implant therapy, esthetic restorations, fixed prosthodontics, cosmetic dentistry and on innovative treatment modalities in those fields, for which he has gained widespread recognition internationally. His office is listed as a Leading Dental Centers of the World member. In his state of the art private practice, focused on fixed prosthodontics and implant therapy in Tel Aviv, he collaborates with multinational colleagues and dental technicians and he is known for providing his patients with comprehensive dental treatments of the utmost in quality. DR. ROMAN CIBIRKA Roman M. Cibirka, DDS, MS, received his DDS from the University of Detroit-Mercy in 1988 and Master s degree in Prosthodontics from the University of Michigan in Dr. Cibirka maintained a practice limited to prosthodontics in Michigan and was a faculty member at both the Universities of Michigan and Detroit Schools of Dentistry until At that time he joined the faculty at the Medical College of Georgia where he serves as the Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs for the entire institution and is a tenured Associate Professor in the Department of Oral Rehabilitation. Dr. Cibirka maintains an active intramural clinical practice. His research interests include dental implants, biocompatibility of dental materials and the reconstruction of complex patients. He is a Fellow in the Academy of Prosthodontics and a member of the American College of Prosthodontics, American Dental Association, Omicron Kappa Upsilon and is Past-President of the American College of Prosthodontics Georgia Chapter. He has actively participated on numerous craniofacial reconstruction, forensic and disaster teams in Michigan and Georgia. He has lectured nationally and internationally on the subjects of dental implants, forensics, removable partial dentures and biocompatibility. 18

BERNHARD DRÜKE Dr. Mick Dragoo has been actively involved in teaching, clinical and histological research, and in private practice in periodontology and restorative dentistry. He has lectured extensively for over 25 years in the United States, Canada, Europe, United Kingdom, South Africa and Australia. He has published over 40 original articles in Dental Journals as well as published several books including The Regeneration of the Periodontal Attachment in Humans and Handbook for Scaling and Root Planing with Power Driven Instruments. His research on ultrasonic instruments for subgingival instrumentation and glass ionomer composites clearly define the future for the preservation of the dentition. His most recent research on guided tissue regeneration and guided bone regeneration will establish new standards of care when applied to periodontal regeneration and implantology. The results of his research will revolutionize the delivery of dental services. Dr. Bernhard Drüke, born 1951, studied dental medicine at the Westfälische Wilhelms University, in Münster and acquired the additional designation, oral surgery, in 1985 after receiving further training in oral surgery at the dentosurgical hospitals in Bremen and Osnabrück. In 1986, Dr. Bernhard Drüke set up his own practice in Münster concentrating mainly on oral surgery and implantology. ANNETTE FELDERHOFF Dr. Annette Felderhoff, born 1969, studied dental medicine at Ruprecht-Karls University Heidelberg as well as at the University of Regensburg and obtained her doctorate in 1998 as a specialist dentist in oral surgery.
