Ethical approval gained from University of Bath ethics board. Pilot study completed with Lancashire FRS. Individual Services data not reported but returned to each FRS. Ready for distribution by CFOA.

20 Fitness Standards Work Physically demanding tasks identified and agreed by CFOA technical panel Rep bodies consulted and form part of the stakeholder panel. 8 FRS s agreed to support the project by recruiting 12 volunteers each. Contract signed with Fire Service College to provide testing facilities (April 2013). Further testing to identify role specific fitness standards and strength requirements planned for late Fitness standards to include flexible approach to fitness testing.
