Our green heart

Who is The Great Outdoor Gym Co (TGO)? Worldwide pioneers of safety compliant outdoor gyms Sponsors of the NHS Forest 350 gyms in the UK tackling inactivity and obesity in some of the most deprived wards of Britain from East London to East Glasgow

The purpose of this presentation Explain to you the health benefits of TGO gyms Ask you to spread the word about what we do More gyms = more trees for NHS Forest

The concept Chinese origins of outdoor gyms Origin: China late 1990s 37 million square feet of outdoor gyms Raising participation levels Particular focus on older people Draw backs to Chinese model: Little or no health and safety Poor quality Not anti vandal Not for the European frame We took the basic concept from China...

What the TGO brand means: Quality Safety Inclusivity Fitness

Offering cardiovascular, tonal and strength opportunities

Designed for safety No crush points No entrapments No trip hazards No unlimited swinging pendulums

Designed for inclusivity and barrier free exercise

Why TGO gyms assist people in becoming more physically active?

Breaking down the barriers to exercise

Our gyms are free Our gyms are safe for all ages Our gyms are within walking distance of people s homes Our gyms are inclusive for all abilities Our gyms can be used at any time

TGO gyms work -Case study Camden installed in and we are looking for a global player to join us on the journey

Results showed high take up by inactive groups 26% of users surveyed were new to exercise i had a major op in 2008, lost a lot of weight. Using gym 2-3 times a week helped rebuild my upper body weight. i was told if I didn t do enough exercise she could get diabetes i was considered obese, 5 and a half stone overweight. I needed a lot of help & Camden active team gave it It s changed my...and life! we are looking for a global player to join us on the journey

Other key findings to the survey TGO gyms empower people to sustained activity 31% of participants used the gyms 1-2 days per week;31% 3-5 days per week; and 12% 6-7 days per week. TGO gyms are getting people more active! 46% of people surveyed had increased levels of physical activity when physical activity levels pre-outdoor gym use were compared with number of days physical in previous 7 days prior to survey. TGO gyms are hitting target groups The outdoor gyms were popular among BME communities. 12% of Black Caribbean men were using the equipment when the average population in Camden is approximately 2%. While 37% of those surveyed were White British, which compares with a Camden population average of nearer 52%. 12% of people using the outdoor gyms were unemployed. TGO gyms could do with more publicity and a trainer When asked what would encourage more use, 55% of participants thought the gyms should be better publicised, users at Polygon and Cantelowes highlighted safer parks and 48% of users at Polygon suggested a personal trainer. The love for TGO gyms is growing...and we are looking for a global player to join us on the journey 94% of participants would recommend using the outdoor gym to a friend

A great win for the public sector We have found the Great Outdoor Gym Company to be an exemplary delivery partner. They have managed contact with local authorities and other agencies to ensure the necessary ownership of the adizone developments at local level, working with individuals to maximise the benefits of the developments to the whole community, and managed links with adidas directly to make the most of their marketing expertise and brand profile. They have successfully embedded the learning secured through the first round of projects into later developments, and shared good practice on an ongoing basis. Working together, through the investment of 3m colocation funding, we will have delivered 40 adizones, a significant legacy for many parts of the country ahead of London 2012, and a fantastic testament to the positive working relationship developed between TGOGC, adidas and PfS a real win-win for all partners. Mark Hayward Project Director Partnerships for Schools...and we are looking for a global player to join us on the journey

We also have a green heart Aims: offset our manufacturing through tree planting Recycle human energy and give back Provide spaces that people can achieve their recommended levels of physical activity as prescribed by the Chief Medical Officers

Manufacturing sustainably For every piece we install in the UK we plant one tree with the NHS Forest Scheme

Working with the Department of Health too... Our pledge to the department of health as a Responsibility Deal Partner is to install 500 more gyms over the next five years using both private and public funding...and we are looking for a global player to join us on the journey

With this in mind we have launched a revolutionary new gym incorporating both wellness and green energy technology

Launched in Hull

Chief Medical Officers guidelines on physical activity levels clearly displayed

...and we are looking for a global player to join us on the journey

With innovative and brand new range of unique gym equipment

Now we want to expand... We are always looking for partners to work with us to enhance what we do and we are proud to be sponsoring the NHS Forest

Please spread the word about what we do and help put us in touch with land owners that would want an outdoor gym
