2 Welcome to The Woodlands The Woodlands provides a welcoming and friendly environment for services users, families and carers. It is a purpose built facility with a unique contemporary design. The Woodlands comprises two buildings known as Great Oaks and Tall Trees. Great Oaks is where service users sleep, relax, have their meals and receive most of their medication: All bedroom accommodation comprises of single rooms with en-suite facilities in gender specific, access controlled areas. Each gender specific sleeping area also has its own bathroom and TV lounge, and access to enclosed outdoor smoking areas. The communal area comprises of a games room, laundry, kitchen and dining area in addition to the following clinical areas: office and interview room; clinic room and urine testing room. There is also access to a large garden at the rear of the building. Tall Trees is where service users will participate in their recovery programme: Tall Trees is adjacent to Great Oaks with the two buildings joined by a covered walkway. The ground floor of Tall Trees accommodates:- A lounge which provides a relaxing atmosphere for many of the recovery programme groups. A meeting room. An IT suite of networked computers. A sensory/complementary therapy room. A fully equipped gym. There is also access to a large garden at the rear of the building.

3 What We Offer All care plans are specifically designed in negotiation with the service user to address and meet the needs of the individual. Care plans are flexible and are reviewed according to service user presentation, clinical need and negotiation. Treatment offered includes: Assisted withdrawal treatment and/or stabilisation options for alcohol, opiates, opioids, stimulants and combinations of these. Admission for mental health assessment and cognitive functioning where appropriate. Viral blood screening for HIV, Hep B & C, which involves pre and post test counselling, plus routine blood testing. Vaccination for Hepatitis. Alongside the clinical interventions runs a recovery programme that is flexible, personalised and unique to the individual. Preparation for admission via pre-admission consultations. Preparation for moving on to longer term rehabilitation projects. Counselling and prescribing for relapse prevention. Complementary therapies including auricular acupuncture and massage. Liaison with referrers with regard to progress at the Woodlands, follow up arrangements and after care. Assistance with benefit claims. Assistance with regard to smoking cessation. Sexual health advice. Non-medical prescribing. Peer support.

4 Recovery The concept of Recovery is embedded within service delivery at The Woodlands. Recovery is about growth, about taking back control over your life and whilst everyone s recovery journey is different, that journey is always deeply personal and will involve both hope and opportunity. Hope - is the motivation behind recovery that provides the belief that things can be different. We at The Woodlands try to instil hope by valuing you for who you are. We believe in your worth, your skills, abilities and potential. We help you to see problems and setbacks as part of recovery. Opportunity - for relationships, activities and socially valued roles are essential in rebuilding meaningful, valued lives. We work in partnership with you throughout your Recovery. The role of the clinical team is to help you achieve these in ways that are meaningful, acceptable and have personal value. At The Woodlands we: Believe in your potential and strength. Value you as a unique individual. Accept you for who you are. Listen to your experiences. Accept setbacks as part of the recovery process. Have a genuine concern for your well being. Help you achieve your personal goals. Help you develop new opportunities. Work together. Provide support. Help you plan and set targets. Help you develop coping strategies. Provide opportunities for you to share your experiences. Recovery can and does occur with and/or without any professional intervention. However The Woodlands delivers a comprehensive recovery programme, which incorporates physical activity, relaxation, complementary therapies and dynamic group work - a programme that is flexible and responsive to your needs.

5 Peer Support Peer support is an essential component of the recovery pathway. Peer support workers have lived experience of drug and/or alcohol use. They have been through treatment and can use this to support others to achieve a happy and fulfilling life. They use their experiences in a positive way and are a constant reminder that it can be done! Peer support workers are best placed to help complete recovery plans having had experience of completing their own. There are groups and sessions where you can share your views and opinions about the way our service works in order to bring about essential and relevant change. Above all, peer support workers can be open and honest about recovery in a truly equal relationship with the service user.
