How many paediatric and adult Tonsillectomy and Adenoidectomy procedures were performed in the period 1st January 2014 to 31st December 2014 and 1st January 2015 to 31st December 2015 respectively within the Trust? 1b. Of the total procedures (referred to in 1a) how many were performed by cold steel, diathermy and Harmonics? 1c. Of the total procedures (referred to in 1a) how many were performed using another method and what was that method? 1d. Of the total procedures (referred to in 1a) how many were performed in each of your trust s hospitals? Eg. Name of hospital 1 treated 100, 50, 20 and 5 respectively. 1e. A figure for the number of consultant surgeons who treated tonsillectomies and/or adenoidectomies in your trust in (a) 2014/15 and (b) 2015/16? 1f. Figures for the number of tonsillectomies and/or adenoidectomies each consultant surgeon treated in (a) 2014/15 and (b) 2015/16? Eg. 1 consultant surgeon treated 100, 50, 20 and 5 tonsillectomies respectively. 1g. Figures for the number of readmissions due to secondary bleeding following tonsillectomy/adenoidectomy procedures in (a) 2014/15 and (b) 2015/16? 1h. Of the figures referred to in 1f what procedure type referred to in 1b-1e did these correspond? Eg. cold steel resulted in # readmissions, diathermy resulted in # readmissions. 2a. How many Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery (F.E.S.S) and Sinus procedures were performed in the period 1st January 2014 to 31st December 2014 and 1st January 2015 to 31st December 2015 within the Trust? 2b. Of the total procedures (referred to in 2a) how many were performed using Balloon Sinoplasty? 2c. Of the total procedures (referred to in 2a) how many were performed using (a) an Endoscope (b) Navigation equipment? 2d. Of the total procedures (referred to in 2a) how many were performed (a) with another form of visual assistance (b) without any visual/navigation assistance?

A figure for the number of consultant surgeons who performed FESS in your trust in (a) 2014/15 and (b) 2015/16? 2g. Figures for the number of Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgeries each consultant surgeon treated in (a) 2014/15 and (b) 2015/16? Eg. 1 consultant surgeon performed 100, 50, 20 and 5 FESS respectively. 3a. How many Septoplasty and Rhinoplasty procedures were performed in the period 1st January 2014 to 31st December 2014 and 1st January 2015 to 31st December 2015 respectively within the Trust? 3b. Figures for the number of Septoplasty and Rhinoplasty procedures each consultant surgeon treated in (a) 2014/15 and (b) 2015/16? Eg. 1 consultant surgeon performed 100, 50, 20 and 5 Septoplasty procedures respectively. 3c. Of the total procedures (referred to in 3a) how many were performed by an open surgical procedure? 3d. Of the total procedures (referred to in 3a) how many were performed as a day case procedure? I can now respond as follows: In relation to all of the questions below please note the following: NHS Grampian can advise that we use the Datix Risk Management Information System to record the data provided below. A search was carried out on 1 April March 2016 under the code of Acute Hospital In-Patient and Day Case Episodes. Small numbers have been presented as <5, as to provide the actual figure would identify the individuals concerned; s.38(1)(b) of the Act refers Personal information. All data has been supplied for the financial years 2014/15 and 2015/16 as to provide the information by calendar years and financial years as requested would exceed the prescribed cost limit as set out in the Act; s.12 of the Act refers Excessive cost of compliance. How many paediatric and adult Tonsillectomy and Adenoidectomy procedures were performed in the period 1 January 2014 to 31 December 2014 and 1 January 2015 to 31 December 2015 respectively within the Trust? NHS Grampian are unable to provide this information as our Datix system does not identify whether the procedure was carried out by cold steel, diathermy or harmonics; s.17 of the Act refers Information not held.
