2 The Community Programme began known as Football in the Community The Foundation trading as Charlton Athletic Community Trust (CACT) was established All community strands were moved under the umbrella of CACT

3 Delivers programmes across Bexley, Bromley, Greenwich and Kent Successfully tendered to the Royal Borough of Greenwich and commenced delivery of the youth service in April 2012 Has delivered in Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban which include work in some of the poorest townships in South Africa Works in partnership with over 200 agencies including local authorities, councils, the Police, the Prison Service and Government Departments

4 Partnership stretches back to 2007 CACT hold a place on the board of governors at Oxleas CACT have delivered programmes within Early Intervention and Forensic settings within the Oxleas organisation September 2013 saw the launch of the first pilot year of delivery of the Early intervention on Psychosis activity project

5 Background to the service Oxleas FT has 3 Early Intervention Teams (Bromley, Greenwich and Bexley) Services are commissioned for 2-3 years and have been developing since April 2007 (starting in Bexley) There are variable Borough relationships with CAMHS but at present teams work with age Total EIP caseload of (commissioned Bexley 87, Bromley 76, Greenwich 96) Focus on social inclusion, recovery and physical well-being Formal relationship with CACT since 2013, now in year 3 1

6 Evaluation and next steps Oxleas and CACT are keen to evaluate the programme In partnership with University of Greenwich About to start service user, carer and staff structured workshops Will be recorded/video Oxleas is also collating baseline data Aiming to publish Exploring how we work with CACT to measure the value of this using HACT model 1

7 25 weeks of delivery Each week consists of 5 hours of activity/engagement delivered in one day Project is managed, scheduled and delivered by 2 full time members of CACT staff Clients are encouraged and supported to attend by Early Intervention staff The project is designed aid in the recovery process of young people through prolonged activity and engagement

8 The rationale of the programme is to provide opportunities for service users to take part in different activities which are sport, arts and culturally based. The key aims are to Increase confidence and raise self esteem To develop new social networks To increase physical wellbeing To provide links to volunteering opportunities To be a positive part of the recovery process

10 The project is scheduled to include sporting, leisure, cultural and art based events Focus is on participation and gaining experience of new activities The varied range of activities encourages attendance of clients with different interests Clients are consulted regularly meaning they are heavily involved in shaping the schedule of activities

11 Theatre trip Tag laser Tennis Bowling Cinema Creative writing Horse Riding Water-skiing Art Gallery trips Indoor cricket White water rafting Zip-wire Museum Visits Cooking And many more.

12 Positive weekly activities in a supportive environment New experiences To provide and receive peer support with others in a similar situation To be able to share the experiences of psychosis with others To gain confidence in their own recovery within social settings Having a weekly structure Increasing social circles

13 The project provides the opportunities to engage with multiple clients at once for a prolonged period of time Allows the service to offer clients fantastic opportunities within community settings Enables staff to set ongoing achievable targets for clients, using the project as a central focus A leveller for clients and EI staff The project becomes a hugely effective tool within the recovery process of young people in recovery from psychosis

14 225 young people have attended the project Over 750 hours of engagement 4 Residential trips to Cornwall Oxleas AMM 2014 Partnership project of the year

16 Through the Great Grass and Route one Projects 20 Young people from the main project passed City and Guild qualifications The same young people attended amazing residential trips in Cornwall Visiting The Eden Project Being part of a yacht crew in Falmouth

17 Quite simply this project has provided me with fun and enjoyment at a difficult time It was good to be around other people who have also experienced psychosis and knowing I m not alone The Charlton Project helps me think more freely about my illness and not worry about stigma People with mental health issues can still be a good part of society and this project promotes that
