Jerry welcomed Val Jackson, new Vice Chair of Sustainability with Justin Moore. Also announcements were made that Nancy Miller has accepted a new position with Golub Capital as their Facility Manager and Liz Vonesh announced her resignation as Treasurer due to her relocation to Australia. 2
Jerry noted that with Liz stepping down, nominations were sent and Debbie Breclaw will be filling her role Minutes Mark Radkte made a motion to approve the meeting minutes of May 6, 2014; Mike Joyce seconded the motion. Motion passed. All 06-3 Treasurer s Report Liz Vonesh reported that the checking account balance was $44, and the savings account is currently $56, The chapter is in a strong financial position. Liz encouraged everyone to begin working on their committee budgets for She recommended to budget without growth. Liz recommended each committee compare their budget against actual. Every committee should prepare their budget closer to actual rather than rely on previous budget forecast template. The target deadline to submit committee budgets is June 30, The executive board will review, comment and final budgets will then be presented for approval. Vonesh 06-4 None Old Business Communications Committee 06-5 Membership s regarding membership are now going directly to Pam and Mary (vs. the Chapter office). Bishop The LinkedIn page is developing nicely and should be ready to unveil to the membership in the next month or two. Site redesign has been confirmed and will be ready by the annual meeting. After it is launched, there will be some opportunity to make additional improvements. Drew asked for input on the color scheme. It was recommended that we follow the branding guidelines that IFMA Headquarters has in place. Mark Radkte stressed the importance of making the color choice such that it complements the IFMA brand. Bishop Bishop 3
Associates 06-6 Golf Outing Recap Deb Breclaw reported that the golf outing was a huge success. $4,500 was raised with the raffle and silent auction which was a major increase from the inaugural year. Breclaw/Joyce Annual Meeting Deb noted that the ask for prizes is occurring but far more challenging as many asks were already made for the Golf Outing. She noted that getting donations was easier to secure because it was for the charity. Her committee and Membership will collaborate to continue soliciting ideas. A discussion pursued about whether or not the IFMA Bucks program has reached a maturation point. The main points of discussion were that (a) having to ask for donations after the golf outing has become more challenging; and (b) that the original premise of the IFMA Bucks program was to get members involved and connected with the associate members (e.g., the 5 for 5 programs). All agreed that not having to ask for donations for the annual meeting would be helpful but that there should be a way to create new programs to keep incentivizing members to attend and stay engaged. A more comprehensive sponsorship package was also proposed (to include donations at the time they commit for the year) as well as an associate s expo at the annual meeting (similar to Northern Illinois ). The consensus was that the Board continue the IFMA Bucks program for (rather than abandoning the program completely) but look at alternative ways to apply the IFMA Bucks (vs. using them as for the live auction at the annual meeting (e.g., using them as a raffle ticket). Career Services 06-7 June 26 Facility Forum Program Plans are well underway and invitations to all professional members have been sent. Professional Development 06-8 Calendar of Events Jerry DiCola reported on behalf of the committee. The June 19 th program is moving forward as is the Facility Forum on June 26 th. The October program is still open; working on a new presenter. Breclaw/Joyce Murdix/O Hollearn Swiencki Ongoing Ongoing 4
Membership It was noted that of the 116 golfers, only 22 were members. The committee is planning to contact all the non-member attendees as they are all good prospects. Sponsorship Sponsor Package Derek reported that he is working with Nicole on revamping the sponsorship package. Coan/Basel Rusch/Satterly Hospitality Upcoming Events Nancy reported that the committee is working on details for the following events: - Annual Meeting (July 17) - New Member Reception (Sept. 23) - WWP Reception (Sept. 18/New Orleans) - Volunteer Appreciation Event (Jerry DiCola to host; no cost- details TBD) - Oktoberfest (October 29) Community Service The 2 nd of the three charities to be interviewed was held prior to the official Board meeting. Archi-treasures is the next non-profit to learn more about. The committee has been talking to the Northern Illinois Chapter about doing a charity event together on a weekend day. Friends of the Park was suggested (4200 North Oak, Oak Park, IL) as a good project. The event would require people to help clean the park and then a pig roast would be held afterwards. All agreed a hands-on charity event would be good but not to expect a big turnout. It was also recommended that no steps be taken until the Board approves/selects the charity the chapter plans to support going forward. Volunteer Director Miller/Benson Shulman No report. Satterly Ongoing Sustainability Liaison Justin reported that the committee is moving forward. Planning to schedule an in-person meeting very soon. Outreach to other committees is also being explored to identify how they can help/work with them. Moore/Jackson 5
President s Report Nominations Jerry shared the results of the nomination process: None. President Jerry Dicola 1 st Vice President Mark Radtke 2 nd Vice President Nicole Slatterly Treasurer Deb Breclaw Meeting Attendance Jerry noted that a review of the meeting attendance indicated that we have more professional members attending than associate members which is great news. This statistic, however, gets skewed when we add in all the non-members or guests. Additional analysis of the attendance date will continue. New Business A motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Deb Breclaw and a second from Kevin Corrigan was received. Meeting adjourned at 1:40 p.m. DiCola DiCola Respectfully submitted, Chris Christine Glatz Chicago IFMA Chapter Administrator s Office 6
