Motion to send 20% of current Unrestricted Funds balance ($314.42) to the World Service Office this quarter made by Millie 2 nd : Mary Helen Mary Helen will be notified by WSO of how much it will cost for one Delegate to attend 2018 WSO Conference. We have $2,500 in our Restricted Funds A Account allotted for Conference. Discussion on our Region s need for an Alternate Delegate (3-yr term) Gus discussed and distributed a 2017 Preliminary Budget Proforma. Website Report Report attached Web activity had a 9% increase in Old Business New meeting in Cochran, GA which is located southeast of Macon/Warner Robbins Discussion on National s suggestion to make websites mobile-friendly. Our Region decided not to pursue for several reasons. Other regions don t do either. 1) GA Region Nar-Anon Workshop Confirmed having another Workshop in October 2017 Bonnie volunteered to be the Workshop s Program Chair. Landis volunteered to host again in Habersham and will organize date and location Nar-Anon Region Meeting Minutes January 21, 2017
3 3 Tentative dates: October 7 or October 14 Mary Helen will lead a CAR discussion at the Workshop. Group Reps: Please let your member know about this Workshop and ask for volunteers. New Business 1) Nar-anon East Coast Convention Donations Convention is asking Groups for funds to help offset costs Motion to send $100 to East Coast 6 Nar-Anon Convention held on October 2017 in Massachusetts made by Peg 2 nd : Gus 2) Public Outreach Bonnie led discussion on the importance of Public Outreach, the free Outreach literature that is available from nar-anon.org, the different posters available on website, and the many locations that are perfect for our Outreach efforts (i.e., jails, rehabs, doctor s offices, schools, community bulletin boards). We are still in need of a GA Region Outreach Chair 3) GA Region Service Position Opportunities VACANT POSITIONS: Region Vice Chair Chair of Outreach Committee Alternate Delegate Group Reps: Please continue to let your Groups know that these service positions are open. 4) Vote for the World Service Convention 2018 Theme The World Service Convention Committee is asking members to choose one of three themes for the upcoming 2018 Convention. Group Reps: Please ask members to go to the December 2016 Nar-Anon Family Groups Newsletter, The Serenity Connection, or nar-anon.org to review the themes. To vote for a theme go to wccommittee@nar-anon.org. 5) Nar-Anon Family Groups Literature Submissions Group Reps: Calling all writers! Please inform members that The World Service Office is asking for literature submissions on Tradition 2. 6) Miscellaneous Issues Discussion on holding Step Study meetings. A lot of good input was shared. Discussion about the shortage of Sponsors. The following were some suggestions on how to find a Sponsor: - Attend other meetings where Sponsors may be available Nar-Anon Region Meeting Minutes January 21, 2017
4 4 - Attend workshops and conventions where there are Sponsors - Consider an out-of-state Sponsor - Ask your own Sponsor if they know of anyone - Consider getting a Temporary Sponsor Discussion about how some members are not interested in working Steps - Suggestion to have a Sponsee lead a speaker meeting 7) GRCNA Convention Update March 24 and 25, Columbus, Georgia GRCNA Committee is making a lot of progress Flyers and registration forms are being distributed at meetings All of the Information is on the website Theme : Freedom Through Change If a Group is interested in donating an item or money, please Bonnie Nar-Anon will have 2 large rooms on Friday and Saturday, March 24 and 25 Hotel Rooms are not full! NAR-ANON TEEN: Several inquiries from custodial grandparents interested in support meetings for their grandchildren. WEBSITE: 1) National has reviewed the website and suggested that it be made mobile-friendly. The DudaMobile service will cost $9.00 monthly (1 yr. subscription of $108.00) in addition to the site cost. In order to subscribe to DudaMobile it is necessary to sign up for Private Domain Registration - $.99 monthly. She received excellent feedback. Please her if you are interested in receiving a copy. 4) GRCNA March 22-25, Jekyll Island Discussed sponsoring a buffet breakfast, Sunday morning Discussed changing how we refer to the Convention so it is more geared toward Nar-Anon We will just mention GRCNA Hotel links on flyer Motion to eliminate our reference to the convention name as GRCNA and change it to Georgia Region Nar-Anon Convention made by Peg 2 nd : Mary Helen 5) World Service Convention in Torrance, CA, April 2018 Update given by Mary Helen Conference Agenda Report (C.A.R) Motions - draft due by August 30 Group Reps: SUBMITTING LITERATURE MOTIONS: Please have a discussion in your next Group Conscience meetings about needing Motion input regarding changing/rewording/adding any Nar-anon literature. Please contact Marie for questions and additional information. 2) NEW Public Outreach Bonnie led discussion on the importance of Public Outreach AND ENCOURAGES EVERY GROUP MEMBER TO TAKE ON AN OUTREACH INITIATIVE EACH MONTH We are still in need of a GA Region Outreach Chair Group Reps: Please bring the concept of Let it Begin With Me to your meetings, and encourage your members to help with Public Outreach! Airy, GA Tradition 5: Each Nar-Anon Family Group has but one purpose: to help families of addicts. Each session will be a collaboration on ways we, as Nar-Anon family members, can spread the Message of Hope.
