2 2 BUSINESS TOPICS PER AGENDA 1) Review Minutes from October 2015 Region Meeting Motion to accept October 2015 Minutes as submitted made by Mary Helen 2 nd : Laura 2) Treasurer s Report Treasurer s Report distributed to all attendees (attached). To reiterate, Gus from Johns Creek has replaced Paul as the Region Treasurer Discussed implementation of new budget Balances as of January 23, 2016 were $1, in the checking account and $ in the savings account. Due to a security threat, Wells Fargo reassigned account numbers to both Nar-Anon accounts. Going forward, there will be funds set aside for the registration of two Delegates to go to the 2018 WSC. These Restricted Funds will not be subject to the 10% factor used to determine the quarterly WSO contribution. Additional funds for budgetary items may also be restricted. This will be reviewed at the next Region meeting in April. Motion to send 10% of current Unrestricted Funds balance ($139.68) to World Service Office (WSO) made by Mary Helen 2 nd : Rosie 3) Website Report Report distributed to all attendees (attached) The report includes stats, Web sales for the 2016 Convention, updates on group meetings, and additional Web content Liz has included E. TN meetings on our Meetings List page Discussion on possibility of changing our search engine 4) Hotline/Magic Jack Liz will renew Magic Jack (February 1, 2016, $40). Joanna continues to manage the Hotline Motion to authorize spending $40 for Magic Jack renewal made by Richard 2 nd : Laura 5) 2016 World Service Conference/Delegate Confirmation Motion to confirm Mary Helen as the GA Region Delegate for the 2016 World Service Conference made by Gus 2 nd : Simon 6) Conference Agenda Report/Other Proposed Literature sent by WSO Each Region officer and Group Rep will receive World Service Conference 2016 informational binder Mary Helen is going to have CAR Review Sessions for anyone interested in February and/or March. GROUP REPS: Please discuss the 60 Motions and literature attachments ASAP, tally your group s votes, and include reasons why your group was for or against a motion. 7) GRCNA Update Due to inclement weather, GRCNA committee could not meet after Region meeting Richard encouraged everyone to attend! 8) Outreach/Narateen There have been several inquiries, discussion, and efforts to set up a Georgia Narateen meeting However, it has been difficult to set up a meeting The 2016 Conference Agenda Report (CAR) includes good information about Narateen *Richard will continue to pursue Narateen efforts GROUP REPS: Please inquire if anyone is interested in starting a Narateen group in Georgia! 5 Web Report 1Q Jan. 23, 2016 AGENDA ITEMS: 1. MEETINGS: CLOSED: Elijay Valdosta 2. WEBSITE TRANSITION: In Mid December the website transitioned from Yahoo to Aabaco Business. The name change is reflected on the web hosting site and for billing. The region s remains with Yahoo. No issues to report with this change. So far there has not been a rate change and the cost of the website remains as it was with Yahoo. 3. CONVENTION: Online T-Shirt sales and Mail-In registration have ended as of 1/16/16 and removed from the website. Online convention registration will end on 1/31/16.

BUSINESS TOPICS PER AGENDA 1) Review Minutes from January 2016 Region Meeting Motion to accept January 2016 Minutes as submitted made by Millie 2 nd : Mary Helen 2) Treasurer s Report Treasurer s Report distributed to all attendees (attached). Balances as of April 17, 2016 were $ in the Checking Account and $3, in the Savings Account totaling $3, Per our January 2016 Region meeting in October 2016, a portion of this balance went into our Restricted Fund Account that was created to send two Delegates to the 2018 World Service Conference ($1,000.00). Therefore, the Unrestricted Fund Balance totaled $2, Motion to send 10% of current Unrestricted Funds balance ($280.00) to the World Service Office (WSO) made by Gus 2 nd : Mary Helen Discussion regarding Net Proceeds after Paid Expenses from GRCNA We made approximately $1, Discussion on creating a 2 nd Restricted Fund Account for GRCNA Motion made by Adele to recognize that 10% of the GRCNA 2016 Net Proceeds had already been donated to WSO, another 10% would be retained for the Region, and the remainder ($1,200.00) would be set aside for GRCNA nd : Gus Discussed that Restricted Funds will not be subject to the 10% factor used to determine the quarterly WSO contribution. Joanna from Athens continues to manage the Hotline. 5) 2016 World Service Conference Agenda Report Mary Helen facilitated the discussion on the Region s Group responses to CAR motions and proposed literature. She will update the Region about the Conference at our next Region meeting in July ) Region Financial Support for Start-up Groups Discussion on whether the Region should provide financial support for literature costs incurred for starting a new meeting. Motion to authorize the Region to reimburse a new Group s New Meeting Package literature (until voted otherwise) made by Peg. 2 nd : Simon 7) Questions regarding strengthening our Region efforts Richard will send out an and poll the Groups asking for their opinions on increasing Outreach projects, starting a newsletter, starting a Narateen group, hosting Step Workshops and Tradition Workshops. 8) Outreach Johns Creek Group will have a table at a Navigate Recovery Community Symposium on Saturday, May 14, 2016, Gwinnett Tech from 10-2 pm. Athens Group was asked to have a table at Recovery Fest in Athens, (May or June) Bonnie discussed a GRCNA 2017 hotel walkthrough in July or August (Columbus, GA). (MACNA) Nar-Anon at MACNA Saturday, August 6 Renaissance Concourse Atlanta Airport (the previous GRCNA location) 8 am to 5 pm Nar-Anon volunteers went to this convention 3 years ago where they very well-received We are still recruiting volunteers to help man the table and distribute Nar-anon Outreach materials. Group Reps: We are still in need of 12 volunteers to help at our Outreach table from 8am- 5pm. (hourly shifts). Please announce this at your meetings! Please Richard, our Chair, if you or anyone in your group is interested: rgf56@hotmail.com. 6) Suggestions regarding how to strengthen our Region Discussion on Outreach efforts, starting a quarterly newsletter, Narateen, hosting workshops, and formal mentoring efforts. Workshop Efforts Discussed half-day Nar-Anon workshop that was hosted by SC group several years ago. 13 4 Suggestion: have our Quarterly Region Meeting after the workshop (approximately 2:30 pm) Workshop topic suggestions: Boundaries, Detachment We would love Groups from TN, NC, and SC to attend *An will be sent out ASAP announcing the workshop idea, seeing if there is interest, and asking for suggestions. Group Reps: Please ask your members if they are willing to help put together this Nar-Anon workshop. Richard with any and all feedback! Mentoring Efforts Gus recommended putting together a list of people who could attend any Group or new meetings to act as a mentoring resource. Example: How to Get Your Meetings To Grow Group Reps: Please ask your members if they are willing to be a Region Mentor, and Richard with names and addresses. 7) 2016 World Service Conference Update Mary Helen gave a quick summary of the motions decided on at the recent Conference A summary will be sent to Karen (Region Secretary) regarding outcome of Motions Several new pieces of literature were approved such as the Boundaries and Consequences pamphlet, Steps for Nar-anon 36, A Sharing Recovery booklet, and a Nar-anon newsletter that publishes collected stories from members The World Literature Committee is looking for written submissions from members, so please check the Nar-Anon World Literature Committee website if you are interested in submitting your writing Board of Trustee elections were announced at the Convention, and below are those from our general area who were elected: Lois from TN was elected a Member (Trustee) on the Board of Trustees Kay from NC was elected as the Chair on the Board of Trustees Marie from Conyers was elected as Vice Chair on the Board of Trustees 8) State-Mandated Signatures Discussion on how to handle state-mandated signatures for NA members 9) Region Vice Chair Position Bonnie from Athens volunteered to be our Region Vice Chair (position has been vacant) Motion to nominate Bonnie as the GA Region Vice Chair made by Mary Helen 2 nd : Rosie 10) Election of Officers We will be electing Officers at our next Nar-Anon Meeting (including Chairperson, Treasurer, Secretary) Next Meeting: Saturday, October 15, agenda items for next quarterly meeting to Richard F: rgf56@hotmail.com Location and time to be determined (depending on Workshop decision) Meeting was closed with the Serenity Prayer at 2:20 pm, EST Respectfully submitted, Nar-Anon Region Meeting Minutes July 16, 2016
