I hope everyone had a very peaceful holiday season. I want to say a huge thank you again for all of the time many of you put in for A Christmas Carol in December. It was an incredibly busy month/end of the year and so many of you stepped up. Sandie reported that there were 164 bookings last year! That s a lot of bookings and a lot of volunteer hours! For those of you I haven t met, I look forward to meeting you in Thank you for your patience and guidance as I learn all the ins and outs of the Cobb Energy Centre. I have appreciated all the feedback and kind s. I am overwhelmed by the support and kindness of all of you. Please be patient as learning the names of the Cobb Energy Staff and 400 Volunteers will definitely take me some time. When you Volunteer for your next event you will notice that Cobb Energy Centre has new carpet. It s beautiful and makes the facility look like new. We are thrilled to have it all replaced. In 2019 all Volunteers and Staff will be required to sign a Mandatory Reporting Form. This form is a if you see something, say something form requiring that any legal adult must report any suspicious behavior toward or involving anyone under the age of 18. I can explain more when you sign the form. Please note that we will be attempting to hold a Volunteer Training in February once Jessica is back in the office. We have over 50 new volunteer applications so we will be adding quite a few to the team. Please reach out to friends and let them know that this training will be happening if they want to join or re-join our team. The more the merrier right? 2 VOLUNTEER COMMITTEE Jody Ard Brenda Bookman Anna Filardi Bob Lederman Dave Herman Arlyn Huntzicker Bonnie Smith Jim Sustrich Denise Tanner Eugenio Wilson The Volunteer Committee is an elected advisory board that assists management in recommending, developing and enhancing policies and procedures relating to the volunteers. Members, consisting of eight volunteers and two Floor Captains, serve a two year term with half of the members rotating off each year to ensure there is continuity from one year to the next. Members may not serve more than two consecutive terms. VOLUNTEER COMMITTEE MEETING NOTES Discussion Notes: First Quarter Meeting was held January 14, The following are discussion points: Artsbridge Holiday House fund raiser (see report on following page) Sandie Aaron reported that CEPAC hosted 169 events and added $ ,000 more than projected to the 2018 budget projection is to hit a minimum of 169 events. Mandated reporting policy is in effect. All ushers need to sign the form: See something, say something A Disruption Policy guideline is in the works with a binder being put together implementing procedures for dealing with: Injury reporting, Service animals, Belligerent guest removal, Emergency evacuation and security threats. Artsbridge will no longer schedule back-to-back performances after this Spring. Lunches will be provided to the students at all future performances. Uniforms: New jackets ordered and received for inclement weather for ushers working on busses during Artsbridge performances. Volunteer training for new applicants scheduled for Monday, March 4, 2019 at 6:30 pm. 3 VOLUNTEER COMMITTEE VOLUNTEER COMMITTEE MEETING NOTES (Special Reports) Artsbridge Holiday Fund raiser On Sunday, December 9, 2018, we hosted an open house decoration tour of our home in order to raise money for the Artsbridge Foundation. Money collected went into the general fund and will be earmarked for transportation and ticketing costs of Title 1 school children. A total of 57 donations were made by 72 participants (60 were in attendance that evening). With matching funds contributed by one of our own, $6000 was collected. The success of this event was due primarily to the generosity of the contributors and the willing participation of those who helped direct the flow and handle refreshments for the evening. We are truly proud to be part of such a giving group of people as our CEPAC Ushers. Jim & Marilyn Sustrich What we do As ushers, we should understand that our primary emphasis and focus is to service our patrons and present the best image we can for CEPAC. Being able to see the entertainment is secondary. As such, there will be times that we will not get seated plus miss the beginning of the performance. There was much discussion centering around incentives that would aid in motivating all ushers. Some ideas were presented but we would like to here from you. Europe Floating on the Danube Sent by Anna Filardi from recent trip to Eastern Europe via the Danube PERSONNEL CHANGES Addition: Please join me in welcoming our new House Manager for the Cobb Energy Centre, Ellie Clark! Ellie holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Acting from the University of Kentucky and a Master of Fine Arts in Acting from Ohio University. Ellie has held numerous theatre roles both in acting and arts administration. Most recently, Ellie was the Associate Producer and Education Director for the Woodford Theatre in Kentucky. Ellie is also the Co-Founder/Co-Director of Project SEE Theatre in Kentucky. Ellie is also the Co-Founder/Co-Director of The Girl Project, a six week summer program focused on teaching teenage girls empowerment through theatre. Ellie will start immediately and report to Jessica Coale, Director of Operations and Sandie Aaron, Managing Director. Carly Kay Director of Human Resources Cobb-Marietta Coliseum & Exhibit Hall Authority (Original press release from December. 2018) Departure: Pat and Bob Snider have resigned their postions as Floor Captains after serving 10 years of dedicated service to CEPAC. Besides doing their duty as Floor Captains, they worked tirelessly behind the scenes with the Volunteer Committee and Annual Usher Appreciation Dinners through the years.
