2 A Day Of OUR MISSION WE CAN empowers Cape Cod women of all ages undergoing challenging life transitions by providing services that bring increased opportunity, selfsufficiency, stability, and lasting positive change for themselves, their families and, ultimately, our entire community. Dear Friends and Supporters, Since 2001, WE CAN has been empowering Cape Cod women to make lasting, positive change. By supporting women going through transitions and difficult times, WE CAN helps families and strengthens our Cape community. We serve women of all ages and provide unique, free services such as mentoring, legal, financial and work support consultations and workshops, personal development programs, and information and referrals to other Cape resources. In the first 9 months of 2017, we handled over 13,500 calls and walk-ins, compared to just over 12,000 in the same period last year. This year, we have begun to see the impact of offering some of our programs and services on the Upper and Mid-Cape, with 200 women served in the first 9 months of the year, double the number served in the same period last year. WE CAN has a small staff and depends on a growing cadre of nearly 300 volunteers and funding from individuals, businesses, grants and events. At $200 per ticket, last year s A Day of Words, Wit and Wisdom (W3) sold out in a few seconds to more than 450 people, with a long waiting list. The event raised almost $125,000 from sponsorships and netted more than $140,000 for WE CAN services. Sponsorships ensure that 100% of funds from every ticket directly benefit the women served by WE CAN. This year, once again, we expect a very quick sellout. With your help, we hope to top $160,000 in sponsorships and raise more than $150,000 for our services. As WE CAN s major fundraiser, this revenue represents 20% of WE CAN s total budget.
