I truly hope your families have found safety. I wish to thank The Davidson s for hosting our Wine and Cheese it was a beautiful turnout and we had a great time. Our children celebrated with our annual Halloween parade with our Warwick Firefighters leading the way. Please continue to send financial support for our firehouse. Our annual Progressive Dinner takes place in November, come join us. We also start to look for individuals who wish to be involved with our association. Involvement in our community is encouraged because your help ensures continuation of MVRA. November is the eleventh month of the year. The word November derives from the latin word novem, meaning nine because originally it was the ninth month in the Roman calendar. This was changed to the present day order when catholic countries adopted the Gregorian calendar in The chrysanthemum is the flower of November and the topaz is its birthstone whose virtues are wisdom, courage and serenity. Thank you for all that you do. Halloween Parade Thank You by Carol McShane The annual MVRA Halloween Parade took place as planned, not even the preparation of Hurricane Sandy could keep us away! The children were so excited to follow the fire truck once again this year collecting their treats. Many neighbors came out to see them in costume and enjoy the parade. Thank you to Tricia Murray, Wendy Sleicher and Jen Hansel for baking such yummy treats. Also, thank you to Diane Keener, Blair Bulsza and the Gutierrez Family for handing out the candy to the children. (continued on page 3)

2 PAGE 2 MVRA Board Meeting - Oct 11, 2012 Attendees: Josh Curtis, John Palladino, Diane Keener, Carol McShane, Carole Jones, Hilary Harris, Phyllis McCabe, Rhian Huhn Meeting was called to order by John Palladino at 8:11PM. Welcome: Kathleen thank the Palladinos for hosting the meeting. Minutes September 2012 minutes were reviewed and approved. Treasurer s Report Income = $6,605 Expenses = $180 Balance = $9,755 Balance does not reflect all money related to Jake Darreff fund raiser. Firehouse will be paid with one check near Christmas. Newsletter Josh Curtis Website is ongoing. Newsletters will eventually be quarterly instead of monthly. Deadline for September newsletter is Oct 30th. Social Kathy Rogers and Kathy Vantine to hold 50/50 for firehouse. Wine & Cheese night went well at Christina Davidson s house. Progressive dinner being planned. Old Business Deed restrictions need to be printed and distributed to all residents. October Newsletter advertise that they are on website. Distributed in print with newsletter to all residents at the time of membership drive. Lights at field this issue was voted down. New Business More estimates are being obtained for trees at entrances. John P looking into trimming of tree on Almshouse obscuring view of oncoming traffic. The meeting was adjourned at 9:16PM The next MVRA meeting will be at the Jones s (2111 Jericho Drive) on Thursday, Nov 8pm. Passing of Jack Hare by Joshua Curtis John J. 'Jack' Hare Sr. passed away Oct. 22, He was 89. Jack was born and raised in Philadelphia and attended North Catholic High School and Philadelphia College of Textiles. He proudly served as a Sergeant in the 4th Marine Division during World War II, seeing combat in the South Pacific. After living in New Jersey for 25 years where he was president of and owned Webb Traffic Control Systems, he retired and returned to Pennsylvania in 1983, making his home in Jamison and most recently Chalfont. He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Jane (Morris), children: Jane Villa (Clyde), John Jr. (Barbara), Joanne Heyert (Robert); 12 cherished grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Catherine Lineman (Roy) and many nieces and nephews. MOUNTAIN VIEWS

We raised over $ including our MVRA matching donation! We really appreciate the Warwick Fire Dept. bringing their trucks and treats for the children.

4 PAGE 4 Adopt A Family by Donna O'Shaughnessy It is hard to believe that the holiday season is right around the corner, which means it is time for Adopt A Family. Year after year, our generous donations collected during the holiday season are a source of inspiration and support for lowincome families working hard to permanently leave poverty. If you are interested in donating please drop off cash or check (made out to MVRA) directly to me. Deadline: November 30th. I will be receiving the names of the family members with their wish list sometime in early November and the drop off date of the gifts is usually the first week in December. 5 Wine & Cheese Night a Success by Christina Jones Wine and cheese were flowing at Doug & Christina Davidson s home on October 5th. It was a great night to get out for a little happy hour (or happy hours depending on your tolerance) and meet both old and new neighbors. Kudos to the new faces like Amanda and Rita for jumping in and joining our wild bunch. Mountain View is fortunate to have such a friendly and FUN group of families. VOLUME 26, ISSUE 7 PAGE 5 Gilda s Club Delaware Valley by John Palladino Gilda s Club Delaware Valley is a local non-profit that provides free social and emotional support programs for local men, women, and children who are living with their own or a loved one s cancer diagnosis (and type, any stage), who have lost a loved one to cancer, or who are cancer survivors. They offer more than 100 programs each month, including support groups, lectures, workshops, mind/body wellness programs, nutrition programs, art therapy classes, and social activities. They also offer more than 20 programs each month specially designed for children and teenagers with cancer in their lives. In addition to the main Warminster clubhouse, they operate satellite locations at Abington Memorial Hospital, Doylestown Hospital, and St. Mary Medical Center.
