Nashville, TN About The WSA It began with a mission from one woman and now the Women Survivors Alliance is helping millions across the world. Established in 2012, WSA s mission is to establish a network where women affected by the disease can find their voice, improve their quality of life, and embrace their 2nd s. The Women Survivors Alliance is based in Nashville, Tennessee, and provides survivor education through its three Ribbons of Support SURVIVORville, My 2 nd Survivor Stories from the Stage and through its online magazine, Nou Magazine (NOUMagazine.org) When you become a partner in all its ribbons of support where you connect directly with survivors along with cancer organizations, hospitals, cancer centers, physicians and their staff. Welcome to the WSA Ribbons of Support SURVIVORville My 2 nd : Survivor Stories from the Stage NOU Magazine
2 My 2 nd : Survivor Stories from the Stage Unique Theater Stage Show Production Featuring Women Cancer Survivors My 2nd : Survivor Stories from the Stage is a platform for cancer survivors to share their deepest personal stories. These theatrical shows prove that the human spirit always prevails and that even a lifechanging diagnosis like cancer can have a positive effect on survivors and their friends, families and society as a whole. My 2nd is a professionally produced stage show staged in theaters across the country and brought to you by the Women Survivors Alliance. The shows feature a cast of real women on stage revealing their own personal experiences of surviving cancer. Their dramatic essays unravel the truth about perseverance in the face of uncertainty as they enter their 2nd of life--survivorship. The result is a raw and honest exposé that not only empowers those on stage, but also inspires those witnessing. It's an amazing evening of emotions as it celebrates both the survivors and nonsurvivors in the audience. In turn, the members of the audience are motivated to create their own 2nd s, inspiring others regardless of the challenges they face in life. And long after the stage lights have gone dark this inspiration and joy has a lasting effect. Thanks to our new partners at Vrtuo Interactive Networks and SmartMed Plus+, My 2nd : Survivor Stories from the Stage is now a television show expanding into 140 countries by 2016 end. As a newly featured television series on this Smart TV platform, My 2nd will now follow the path of the current mainstream productions as we film the audition process in each city where survivors share their amazing stories with the hopes of being chosen for the theatrical presentation. Wellproduced backstories of inspiring participants will be created as we follow these courageous women through the process and into the spotlight. The stage show itself will have a more intimate connection to its cast and cameras back stage will capture the jitters and butterflies as the women step out onto the stage. This new approach will reflect the energy and vitality of the brave women who bare their stories to a worldwide audience. WSA Founder Karen Shayne and Emmy winning television veteran, Marcia Mulé will be executive producing along with Artifact Creative's Philip Bradley directing. Vrtuo Interactive Networks is a collection of channels made available on Smart TV platforms such as, Roku, Apple Tv, Google Tv and Amazon Fire. Smart TV is a wideopen new form of media growing rapidly worldwide. SmartMed Plus+ is a new health and wellness advantage program providing accessibility to affordable health care and family friendly entertainment. 3 The Signature Three-Day Cancer Survivor Event SURVIVORville 2017 Will Be Held July rd in Nashville, Tennessee SURVIVORville is the flagship event and is held every two years in Nashville. Garnered as one of the most inspiring, high-energy and empowering weekend amongst survivors, SURVIVORville is where women can learn to navigate the muddy waters of survivorship and have quite the fun! It s where they acquire the tools to help them rebuild their lives after cancer. Produced by Women Survivors Alliance, SURVIVORville is held in Nashville, Tennessee. Over the past three years SURVIVORville has welcomed over 2000 women from 49 states and 5 countries. This much needed platform allows women survivors to network with one another, replacing the feeling of isolation with a sense of community. It provides education, motivation and life application for every step of survivorship, and it equips survivors with the necessary resources to create their own survivorship care plan and celebrate the 2nd of their lives. SURVIVORville and has been featured in media outlets totaling over 2,000,000 media impressions including: People Magazine, The Huffington Post Sirrus Radio Network, Yahoo, American Association of Cancer Research, US Today and World Report, Cancer Today Magazine, Healthline, The Doctors Channel and more SURVIVORville marketing is year round. NOU Magazine is their go-to guide for strategies about lifestyle, health, money, career, food, relationships, Women Only Cancer Survivors Magazine Every page of NOU Magazine is created to reflect the variety and diversity of our readers women survivors of all ages, all stages and all cancers. We provide them with education, motivation and life application. NOU Magazine Market * new articles per month * NOU reaches over 36,000 readers WEEKLY thanks in part to our partners at Google. * NOU reaches approximately 1.9 million survivors per year. * 72 professional contributors to NOU and the magazine is updated bi-monthly with new articles. With an ever-growing team of contributors NOU Magazine community encourages women affected by cancer to find their voice and create their 2 nd. 5 About the Women Survivors Alliance WSA VISION/MISSION The WSA is an all-volunteer organization. 94 cents of every $1.00 go towards programs to transform survivorship from a mood into a movement by empowering, educating, and connecting women whose lives have been touched by cancer. It is our desire to establish a network where women affected by cancer can find their voice, improve their quality of life, and embrace their 2nd. SURVIVORSHIP If cancer was cured tomorrow, 1.5 million women would be spared a diagnosis this year alone. But the 8.4 million women survivors in America will continue to face issues they never expected once their treatment ended. Cancer is a line in the sand of life and a BIG game changer. Its impact doesn t end just because treatment does. Survivors must address the long-term and life limiting effects of the illness and its treatments including physical, psychosocial, legal and financial issues. And then there s the big one fear of reoccurrence. Learning to navigate the muddy waters of their new normal is the only way survivors can return to being contributing members of their families and society as a whole. Survivorship, and the recognition of the many challenges survivors face following treatment, is the cutting-edge theme in the world of cancer. The Commission on Cancer (part of the American College of Surgeons) has mandated that its 1,500 accredited cancer care facilities must have survivorship care plans in place by 2015 in order to renew their accreditation. It is clear that the time has come to move survivorship to the forefront in the conversation about cancer. In 2014, the Women Survivors Alliance was honored for their work by the American Association for Cancer Research for their work with survivorship and was included in the AACR National Progress Report. The WSA is honored to work along side its partner corporations and organizations to help women achieve true survivorship, and a fulfilling, promising, and cancer-free life!
