1 THE OFFICIAL PUBLICA TION OF THE SOUTHEASTERN NORTH CAROLINA REGIONAL MUSTANG CLUB JANUARY 2017 FEBRUARY MEETING: Sundsy, February 12, PM Supreme Buffet Hibachi Grill, 209 Freedom Way, Midway Park. Jacksonville members meet at the restaurant at 2:45. Wilmington members meet at CostCo at 1:30PM for a 1:45PM departure. Inside this issue: January meeting 2-3 Board members, Prayer requests Notes from the President 5 Upcoming Events 6 4 The first meeting of the SENCMC for 2017 was held on Sunday, January 8, at Carolina BBQ in Wilmington. Unfortunately this was the Sunday after the storm that brought cold winds, some ice and some snow to our area. There were only twenty members who were able to brave the cold to attend our meeting. To quote member Eric Morris, The New Year for SECNCMC started with a POP rather than a Bang. We do hope that this will change dramatically and quickly. Jessie Lisane prayed to bless our food, the new year, our nation and our members. We then enjoyed a delicious meal from the Carolina BBQ buffet. After eating, Bob Ellis, our president for the term opened our meeting. He thanked all the outgoing board members for their service to our club, and welcomed the new officers. Marcus Major was the only member present who is celebrating a birthday in January. We sang Happy Birthday to him. Bob and Theresa Ellis, celebrated their 20 year wedding anniversary in January as well. Best wishes to you all, and to all our members celebrating who were not able to attend. Bob urged us to keep in mind that our members need our continued prayers. Some are dealing with ongoing health issues, many of us have unspoken requests, but we all need to keep our friends lifted up in prayer on a regular basis. If you know of a member who needs prayer for something specific and want to share it please any of the board members and we will make sure that the membership is made aware of the need. At our November meeting it was discussed that we decide which charity should receive the funds from our annual show. Several new charities were mentioned at our January meeting. Jackie Lisane suggested the Lupus foundation, which funds research and treatment options for those dealing with this auto immune disease. Charles Janosick mentioned a charity that rehabilitates wild Mustangs in the Southwest, he thought since our vehicles are Mustangs it would be an appropriate charity. Kurt Miller suggested that we continue to support Women of Hope, since they are a local organization. We will vote on the charity at our February meeting. If you have a charity you would like to suggest please be prepared to present it to membership at that time.

2 JANUARY 2017 Page 2 We are asking that several members volunteer to help with the organization of our annual car and truck show. We have some new challenges this year, and we need more club involvement to make our show a success. The first task of our show committee is going to be to find a new location for the show. Bob Ellis and Kurt Miller have both volunteered to investigate several locations for us. For those of you who may not know the College Road K Mart is closing this spring and the future of that location is very uncertain at this time so we need to find another location as soon as possible so that planning and publicity can begin for the show for The location suggestions that we have thus far are Independence Mall, Hanover Center, Mayfiare, and the Wilmington Airport. If you have any other location suggestions please share them with a board member or consider volunteering to serve on the show committee. We also need several more volunteers for our Activities Committee. Jessica Goff and Gloria Thompson have both been gracious enough to volunteer for this task but they will need the help of a few more people. Please consider this and let one of the board member know that you are ready to serve our club in this capacity. In the past the winner of the 50/50 drawing was the Member Spotlight for the newsletter that month. It was decided to renew this activity, so be ready to share some fun informational bout yourself when you are the 50/50 winner. This is a great way to get to know our members a little better. As a regional club it is a challenge for us to move our meeting locations each month. If you have any suggestions of meeting locations or activities please share these with the board members as well as Jessica Goff and Gloria Thompson so we can put the suggestions to use. If you have suggestions for ways to grow our club please share these ideas. As Bob reminded us at the meeting this is OUR CLUB not a club run by the board members alone. We want everyone to have a hand in our planning and our activities. We want to thank Dick Steinkopf for his planning and effort for out Christmas dinner at Bluewater Grill. He has already scheduled our 2017 Christmas Dinner for the same location for this December. Bob reminded us that Ford had promised to introduce several new vehicles by There is speculation that there will be at least one of these new vehicles unveiled at the Carlile Show in June. There are a number of upcoming events in February Winterfest at VIR March Gulf Coast Mustang Show, Pensacola, FL April National Mustang Day cruise celebrations April SVT Superfest VIR May 20 Northeast GA SCNC Mountain Cruise June 2-4, Ford Nationals Carlisle PA, 50th Anniversary of Ford GT500 July TDD National MCA show and driving event at Atlanta Motorsports Park We will keep you updated on these events as more information becomes available.

If you have not paid your dues your name will be removed from the roster and you will no longer receive the Pony Express or any of the reminders. Congratulations to our former member Randy Rackley who received a National Award from. AACA. Randy will be traveling to Philadelphia for the AACA National Meeting in early Feb. to pick up the award. We were all delighted to see that Emmitt Hawks, and Marcus Majors both were able to attend the meeting this month since both had been dealing with health issues. Several of our members have ongoing medical needs that are keeping them from our meetings, please keep these members in your prayers: Julie McCombs, Judi Mitchell, Nell Thomas, and our former member Rose Volpe. Please continue to remember Greg Griffith as he continues his battle against cancer. We need to continue to pray for Marcus Major and Emmitt Hawks who are both experiencing ongoing health problems. Cara and Clint Morrell have both been sick with the nasty viral infection that has gone around lately. Many of our members are dealing with issues and concerns that they may not have shared with us so please remember there are many unspoken requests here in our group. Let us keep each other lifted up in prayer. We want to keep our members supported in times of joy as well as times of pain or sorrow, so please let one of the board members know if there is something we need to keep in prayer or something we can reach out and help a member handle.
