We reached for the bottles we'd hid on the shelves For those were the presents we'd bought for ourselves. We never had moeny to spend for a gift We needed it all for that holiday lift. Now that was our Christmas before finding A.A. We were drinking our cheer in the usual way. And all Christmas Eve the joint would be rocking Though we knew fully well what we'd find in our stocking. We followed a pattern that seemed to be right Wasn't Christmas the time when people got tight? That Christmas is past and a new one draws near But with its approach we hold nary a fear. For through the A.A. program we've found a new way To know a real Christmas in a new grateful way. The tree will be brilliant with lights bright and clear And not from a bottle will come Christmas cheer. But straight from our hearts a true warmth will glow Reflected by love for the friends that we know. Back Page Valley Service Center Office: hour Hotline: Toll Free 24 hours: info@trivalleyaa.org Website: Welcoming Visitors to our Meetings Many of us visit out of town at this time of year, and often what allows us to practice these principles with our families, and to put principles before (our) personalities, is making meetings while we are away from our home groups and sponsors. So, if your home group or fellowship is sponsoring marathon meetings or an alkathon during this holiday season, a potluck, or if your meeting will NOT be meeting during the holidays, please make sure that the Valley Service Center so that our Hotline Volunteers can be made aware of what s going on in the Tri-Valley Area! If you have visitors at your meetings during the holidays, please make sure that they get a meeting schedule (or are advised of the Meeting Guide app available for smartphones). Make sure they get phone numbers and that they have the opportunity to participate in the meetings they attend. It means a lot to those of us who travel to be able to feel like we are a part of when we re away from familiar meetings and friends.

Notify your IGR if you are interested. Signups now open for groups that want to perform service at the Anniversary Dinner. Contact IGR for further information. Many thanks to all women who have now volunteered for H & I service at Santa Rita. We now have plenty of support. WEEKLY ANNOUNCEMENTS PI/CPC Book drive money collection continues through the end of December. Please support so we can replace stolen Big Books from our local libraries. It is the most checked out and not returned book. Valley Service Center is looking for someone to make themselves available as our Webmaster. BUSINESS MEETING ANNOUNCEMENTS August and September financials are available. We are doing well against the budget to date; nothing out of the ordinary in profit/loss. The picnic made a profit of approximately $1k. Please be sure to check the reports to ensure that your contributions are being recorded correctly. NOTE: Check our website for fliers, Valley View and other information. Meeting Location Changes Several groups/meetings have relocated recently. You may want to download a current copy of the meeting schedule from the Valley Service Center (at trivalleyaa.org) or check the Meeting Guide application for the most current information. The Unscripted Men s Group is an open Men s speaker/topic discussion meeting. The group meets on Wednesday nights at 8:00 p.m. and has moved to: St. Phillip s Lutheran Church, 8850 Davona Drive, Dublin, CA Women Staying in the Book is an open women s Big Book Study. The group meets on Thursday Nights at 5:30 p.m. and has moved to: Trinity Lutheran Church, 1225 Hopyard Road, Pleasanton, CA Broken Elevator Group is a Step and Tradition Study using both the Big Book and the Twelve and Twelve. We meet at 7:00 p.m. on Thursdays at Asbury United Methodist Church, 4743 East Avenue, Livermore. On Thursday December 8 we will be meeting in the Fireside Room (signs will be posted) and on Thursday December 15 we will be meeting in Room 10 (next door to our regular meeting room signs will be posted) The Wednesday Free Thinkers meeting has CLOSED. The meeting was being held at Asbury United Methodist Church in Livermore. If your meeting has relocated or had any changes to its format, time, etc., please contact the Valley Service Center with updated information. We recommend that members check on the meetings you attend to assure that the information that we have on file is accurate. If your group does not appear in the list below, no contributions have been received for the months shown. Please note the months covered in the table below are for the current fiscal year....self-supporting through our own contributions The A.A. groups themselves ought to be fully supported by the voluntary contributions of their own members. We think that each group should soon achieve this ideal; that any public solicitation of funds using the name of Alcoholics Anonymous is highly dangerous, whether by groups, clubs, hospitals, or other outside agencies; that acceptance of large gifts from any source, or of contributions carrying any obligation whatever, is unwise. Then too, we view with much concern those A.A. treasuries which continue, beyond prudent reserves, to accumulate funds for no stated A.A. purpose. Experience has often warned us that nothing can so surely destroy our spiritual heritage as futile disputes over property, money, and authority. When drunk enough I headed for bed, The booze causing visions to swim in my head! Then I came to AA, and everything changed My additude and outlook on life became rearranged. It wasn't easy to come this far, But 4 years later my life is on a whole new par. I have not turned into a square as I had dreaded. A realationship with God is what I have netted. Lucky to be alive at all, I count my blessings And try my damdest to cut down on stressing. This is a message to let you know that Jews get sober, too And the gift of sobriety is here for me and for you! So please work the steps if you haven't already And experience life on a plane that is steady! Now comes the end of my silly little rhyme I changed the message to "Happy Hannukah to all" - I hope no one minds!
