2 Administration: P.O. Box 423 Chico, CA Butte/Glenn Office: Fax: Tehama Office: Fax: Steve Lambert, Chair County of Butte 25 County Center Drive Oroville, CA Follow us on at Rape Crisis Intervention Dear Steve Lambert, Chair April is nationally recognized as Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM) and this year, Rape Crisis Intervention & Prevention (RCIP) is promoting SAAM through several activities to help every member of our community make a personal commitment to end Sexual Violence. Our goal is to encourage everyone in the County of Butte to learn about sexual violence, how to help prevent it, and how to encourage survivors to heal. RCIP is calling for the County of Butte community - wide participation to personally commit to ending Sexual Violence, and would be honored if you would sponsor an official proclamation to recognize April as SAAM. You can further support SAAM by scheduling a presentation for your staff, wearing a teal ribbon to support the awareness of SAAM; participating in Denim Day; a national event which people are encouraged to wear jeans (denim) in order to dispel myths and raise awareness about Sexual Violence on Wednesday, April 24, 2019 and/or by attending any or all of our scheduled events, on the calendar I will you the last week of March. We are hopeful that you will be able to present your proclamation during your next Board of Supervisors meeting. A representative from RCIP will be present to receive this proclamation and to speak briefly about SAAM and the services we provide 24/7, 365 days a year. Rape Crisis Intervention & Prevention is Taking Action by promoting SAAM in coordination with California s rape crisis centers and our California Coalition Against Sexual Assault (CalCASA). We share the view of the World Health Organization that sexual violence is a serious health problem that profoundly affects the physical, emotional, mental and social well-being of victim/survivors. With leadership and commitment, we believe that we can work together with others to create short and long-term solutions to the endemic problem of sexual violence, including the education of what is a healthy and respectful relationship. A sample proclamation is enclosed. Please contact me to confirm your support of these critical violence prevention efforts. We look forward to partnering with you to achieve our vision of a world without sexual violence. Sincerely, Cindy Duckworth Bookkeeper / Special Events SEXUAL VIOLENCE INTERVENTION & PREVENTION A United Way Agency
