8 North East Inspire Mental Health What is a Community Day Support Service? WRAP Coming soon to Ballycastle The focus of the North East service is to develop innovative ways to offer a Day Support Service to more people, over a wider geographical area, to move away from the traditional fixed building setting and to take Day Support to where it is needed. The Recovery Ethos for people with lived experience of mental ill health is clear that individuals on a recovery journey benefit from better connections with their local community. Social inclusion develops these connections, enhancing existing support networks and enabling individuals to identify what is available and what is of benefit to them. This involves people in understanding how they contribute to their own wellness recovery and requires them to reflect on the unique routines and activities they use to support their recovery journey. The role of North East Inspire Mental Health is to walk alongside members on this journey offering support and learning that enables personal decision making, self advocacy and self belief, and provide opportunities for members and staff to come together, to learn together, and to feel part of something positive, worthwhile and fulfilling. WRAP Begin the journey towards defining what your Recovery means to you Explore the key concepts of Recovery and how they fit with you Create your own individualised WRAP. Try it if you Want to explore ways in which you can take responsibility for and manage your own Recovery Want to gain the confidence to speak for yourself Learn from others Recovery journeys Nobody can go back and start a new beginning...but anyone can start today and make a new ending. Mary Ellen Copeland
