3 HISTORY OF WHG GIVING Wisconsin Hospitality Group, LLC (WHG) is a local franchise group that owns and operates more than 100 restaurants throughout Wisconsin - 73 Pizza Huts and 35 Applebee s and employs more than 4,000 people. Through local campaigns and generous donations from guests, WHG has raised more than $2.9 million dollars during the last 16 years and continues to build on its philanthropic efforts. WHG was founded with a steadfast commitment to taking care of its guests, employees and communities. The leaders had a vision for an innovative restaurant-management company that provides quality dining experiences for its guests, while generating opportunities for employees and managers, at all levels, to give back to the communities within those that they live and work, and that vision continues to guide the company today. Most recently, WHG has created WHG Cares, a 501(c)(3) non-profit foundation to centralize their giving efferts and allow for tax deductible donations. Based in Waukesha, WHG Cares and WHG make it a priority to keep campaign costs down and to provide 100% of campaign net proceeds to its charitable partners. Throughout the last 16 years, WHG has been able to raise and donate more than $180,000 each year in combined gifts to local charities including Children s Hospital, World Hunger Relief, The Literacy Project, Honor Flight, ProHealth Care and One Heartland. These donations were made possible by both the generosity of guests and the hard work of all WHG team members. WHG s business and community-based values have earned it a nationwide reputation for a commitment to philanthropy and recognition as both a state winner and national finalist for the National Restaurant Association s Restaurant Neighbor Award, which awards restaurants for providing outstanding community service and involvement and has won numerous awards for community involvement from it s franchise partners. SHARE YOUR HEART LETTER FROM THE CEO Wisconsin Hospitality Group has always maintained a dedication to giving that has provided more than $2.9 million dollars in funding and support to various organizations and causes. Throughout the last 16 years, the WHG franchise restaurants, Applebee s and Pizza Hut, and its employees throughout the state have donated hundreds of volunteer hours to run campaigns in our local markets. In 2016, through the efforts of our team and the generosity of customer donations, the company raised $148,047 in combined gifts. We were honored to again support children s causes through our partnerships with Children s Hospital of Wisconsin and One Heartland. We expanded our gifting programs with the ProHealth Care partnership in 2014 in our support of breast cancer research and screening. Our most recent campaign addition is The Literacy Project, which allows us to expand our commitment to literacy and reading by empowering teachers and providing access to critical resources in under-deserved communities. Every year, the whole Wisconsin Hospitality Group family looks forward to providing free meals and honoring all branches of the military on Veterans Day. This year we provided more than 14,500 free meals to veterans and active military members. We also launched the Meaghan Fund employee emergency fund and raised more than $25,000 this year for employee assistance grants. The formation of our 501(c)(3) foundation, WHG Cares, was a very exciting and important step in advancing our fundraising efforts. The non-profit organization allows us to combine our fundraising efforts and allow tax deductible donor gifts. We appreciate all of the efforts of our employees and guests in 2016 and we look forward to a great Mark Dillon Wisconsin Hospitality Group CEO 1998 Wisconsin Hospitality Group was formed Started APPLE FOR KIDS Campaign 2001 Started SHARE YOUR HEART Campaign 2007 Started WORLD HUNGER Campaign 2011 Started HONOR FLIGHT / VETS DAY Campaign 2014 Started APPLES FOR A CURE Campaign 2015 WHG Cares was founded Started LITERACY PROJECT Campaign 4 WHGcares.org

4 RAISING MONEY FOR CHILDREN WITH CHILDHOOD ILLNESSES The Applebee s of WHG began their support of Children s Hospital of Wisconsin in June of 2000 with the inaugural HIT THE LINKS FOR KIDS golf outing and the APPLES FOR KIDS (AFK) fundraising campaign, featured in all WHG Applebee s restaurants. HIT THE LINKS FOR KIDS golf outing has grown exponentially over the last 16 years, becoming the cornerstone of the Annual Applebee s fundraising campaigns. It s also one of the most highly anticipated events for WHG employees, vendors, friends, and stakeholders at Children s Hospital. The company s 4-week sister campaign, APPLES FOR KIDS, is hosted by each of WHG s 35 Applebee s restaurants. Guests are encouraged to purchase paper apple icons for $1 to show their support for Children s Hospital programs. In addition to the support of the golf outing and APPLES FOR KIDS drive, team members donate their time and resources throughout the year to this worthy cause. They host car washes, bowling events, volleyball tournaments, AFK walks, and much more to raise awareness and funds for Children s Hospital of Wisconsin. Every member of the WHG organization is passionate about getting involved and making a difference in the lives of children. A phrase that can often be heard throughout the campaign is, It s for the Kids!, because that is truly the motivation behind each dollar raised and a source of pride for all. GIFTED MORE THAN $1.5 MILLION TO CAUSES Children s Hospital of Wisconsin utilizes the monies WHG raises each year for dual purposes, to support an Endowment Fund that provides ongoing support in perpetuity and a Usage Fund in which WHG allocates support to several of the programs throughout the health system. Throughout the last 16 years, with the funds raised by WHG and the generosity of our guests, the company has raised more than $1.5 million. Funds were allocated to Children s Hospital of Wisconsin s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and to funding the annual Children s Hospital Prom event. In 2016, WHG and Children s Hospital forged a new comprehensive partnership by supporting the efforts of Project ADAM a non-profit organization dedicated to providing tools and education resources that help prevent sudden cardiac deaths in teens and children. Through this new strategic fundraising partnership, WHG and Project ADAM hope to place an Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) in every Wisconsin school, as well as provide resources to train students and teachers in their life-saving mission. $ 126,095 $ 85,837 $ 57,400 $ 30,260 $ 62,984 $ 121,398 $ 105,256 $ 97,474 $ 75,898 $ 97,665 $ 86,467 $ 89, $ 100, DONATION HISTORY $ 119,974 $ 91,410 $ 58,565 $ 117,492 $ 58,565 RAISED IN ,017 ICONS SOLD 205 T-SHIRTS SOLD $ 1,500,780 TOTAL RAISED SINCE

Pizza Hut has helped One Heartland fund its foundational program, Camp Heartland, for the past 16 years through our Share Your Heart campaign. Since 1993, Camp Heartland has hosted one-week camps for children from across the country affected by HIV/AIDS. The camps have provided a safe haven for these children to experience social acceptance, psychological support and a whole lot of fun at minimal or no cost to the families. Camp Heartland serves children and youth ages 7-15 either infected or directly affected by HIV/AIDS. This is a national program, serving participants from 20 states. These one-week camps provide a place where complete acceptance and freedom from social isolation is the norm. Participants can enjoy many outdoor activities such as canoeing, fishing, archery, climbing wall and swimming. Other activities offered include arts and crafts, drama, evening programs and an all camp dance. The cost to participate is determined by family income. Generous support is provided by donors to allow children with financial constraints the ability to attend camp. IMPORTANT CAMP DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS Wisconsin Hospitality Group and its Pizza Hut restaurants, in combination with the company s foundation, WHG Cares, raised $39,013 during their 2016 Share Your Heart campaign, which ran April 24th through May 22nd. The proceeds raised will support Camp Heartland, which provides children affected by HIV/AIDS the ability to enjoy an exciting and progressive summer camp program. In 2016, the restaurants raised more than $39,000 which helped to fund grants that allow low-income families to attend camp at no cost. WE COULDN T DO WHAT WE DO WITHOUT PIZZA HUT S GENEROSITY, WHICH SHOWS UP IN SO MANY WAYS. THE FUNDS THEY GIVE US ARE JUST THE START. OUR CAMP S KITCHEN IS CALLED THE HUT BECAUSE OF THE AMOUNT OF STATE-OF-THE-ART KITCHEN EQUIPMENT DONATED BY PIZZA HUT. THEY ARE TRUE PARTNERS IN OUR MISSION. Patrick Kindler, Executive Director of One Heartland 9

6 RAISING MONEY FOR BREAST CANCER RESEARCH AND SCREENINGS $ 40,312 $ 38,683 $ 30,831 During the month of October, WHG s 35 Applebee s restaurants commit themselves to raising money in the fight against breast cancer. WHG s 4-week APPLES FOR A CURE campaign, in partnership with the ProHealth Care Foundation, raises money for breast cancer research and education through the sales of pink ribbon icons, specialty glassware, as well as select menu items. WHG s first annual APPLES FOR A CURE campaign was held in 2014 and WHG has challenged its Applebee s restaurant staff to raise $350,000 by the end of the annual campaign s first 5 years. The monies from APPLES FOR A CURE go to a research project and ongoing treatment and testing of breast cancer. The molecular genetics study donations help to fund a collaborative study designed to gain insights on how genetic mutations may contribute to the development of specific cancers, including breast cancer. Support provides funding for local researchers, sample registries and critical clinical materials and processing costs associated with research, as it relates to hereditary cancers and cancer mutations. Funding also goes to fund ProHealth Care s Breast Cancer Services, a first-class cancer center in Pewaukee, WI, which includes state-of-the-art breast imaging services. Funding will continue to support breast cancer screening and prevention. CONTRIBUTIONS TO A CANCER CENTER AND LOCAL RESEARCH In 2016, WHG and ProHealth Care also forged a new partnership with City of Hope, a non-profit organization dedicated to conducting genetic cancer screening, and educating at-risk individuals about genetic and hereditary cancer connections. Through this partnership, WHG and ProHealth Care are more committed than ever to putting an end to breast cancer once and for all. Active and retired servicemen and women are invited to stop by one of the locations and receive a free entrée for their service. Nearly 15,000 veterans were served meals in 2016, and WHG is hopeful that they will have the opportunity to surpass that number in the coming years. Since the campaign s inception, almost 108,000 veterans have received a meal of honor. Veterans Day is also an opportunity for guests to purchase Honor Flight icons and provide other donations to raise money for veterans to participate in memorable flights to Washington, D.C., where they can experience a trip of a lifetime to see the memorials in their honor free of charge. The organization selects veteran heroes to travel to Washington, D.C. to honor their service and sacrifices and to visit and reflect at their memorials. Top priority is given to the senior veterans World War II and Korean War survivors, along with those other veterans who may be terminally ill. WHG also partners with the state of Wisconsin s Veterans Affairs Office to provide veterans information about their benefits while dining at Applebee s on Veterans Day. HELPING TO MAKE DREAMS COME TRUE WHG also raised funds on Veterans Day with proceeds benefiting Honor Flight programs in Wisconsin. Guests are able to donate $1 or more through the purchase of Honor Flight icons. Honor Flight Network is a non-profit organization created solely to honor America s veterans for all their sacrifices. WHG HAS CONTINUED TO HELP US RAISE FUNDS AND AWARENESS EACH YEAR, AND LAST YEAR PROVIDED FUNDING FOR OUR VETERANS FLIGHTS. Steve Barlett, Badger Honor Flight 13

8 RAISING MONEY TO IMPROVE CHILDHOOD READING AND EDUCATION In 2016, WHG and its 73 Pizza Hut restaurants, together with Pizza Hut nationally, teamed up with First Book in an effort to improve literacy in the lives of children. THE LITERACY PROJECT, a fundraising campaign running from September 8th through October 24th, provided money for First Book grants used by local organizations engaged in Literacy education. First Book is a nation-wide organization that helps schools and educational organizations receive books and resources that inspire children and empower educators to improve literacy in the lives of children. In the first year of the campaign, WHG raised more than $14,000 for First Book and their local partners thanks to the generosity of their Pizza Hut guests. IMPROVING THE EDUCATION OF LOCAL CHILDREN THE LITERACY PROJECT offered WHG a chance to partner with local organizations that are making a difference in the lives of children. Through WHG s fundraising efforts, the Next Door Foundation in Milwaukee and Greater Waukesha Literacy received over $7,000 each in grants for books and other educational resources for their goals of improving childhood literacy. THESE KIDS ARE THE FUTURE OF OUR COUNTRY, YET SOME DON T EVEN OWN THEIR OWN BOOKS. FIRST BOOK HELPS THEM. TO ME, THIS IS MORE THAN JUST HELPING THEM FOR NOW, THIS IS HELPING THEM BUILD THEIR FUTURE, OUR FUTURE. WHEN YOU ACTUALLY VISIT A SCHOOL BENEFITING FROM THIS PROGRAM, YOU SEE REAL RESULTS. REAL LEARNING, REAL BUILDING, REAL SMILES. THESE CHILDREN ARE SO GRATEFUL AND IT MELTS YOUR HEART. $ 14,222 TOTAL RAISED IN 2016 Bobby Pittman, Pizza Hut Shift Lead Manager 15

They do this by facilitating local fundraisers for school, church, and other non-profit groups; as well as donating time and materials to events in their communities. WHG Cares also provides donations to hundreds of groups around Wisconsin every year. In 2016, over $17,000 worth of donations were given to help support the local fundraising efforts of various groups in the communities WHG serves. Additionally, WHG works to provide toys to the local Alma Center so that families that are experiencing trauma or a difficult transition are provided a chance for joy and gifts during the holiday season. Over the last several years, our employees have donated hundreds of toys for families in need. 10 IN MEMORY OF A SPECIAL PERSON, MEAGHAN RATH Wisconsin Hospitality Group has always maintained a dedication to giving. Throughout the years, the company has developed several gifting / donation programs that have provided more than $2.9 million in funding and support to various organizations and causes. In 2015, WHG proudly introduced its employee-only gifting program called the Meaghan Fund. This program is unique to our other charitable programs because it is developed to provide assistance to our own WHG employees who are in need of financial assistance due to a catastrophic event. The Meaghan Fund employee grant program raises 100% of funds through employee payroll deduction contributions or one-time donations. The Meaghan Fund was inspired by Meaghan Rath, a special young lady who battled cancer for many years and always showed courage and strength. WHG supported Meaghan s parents, Ken and Kate Rath, both Pizza Hut GMs, during the very difficult time and provided financial assistance and flexible work schedules so that they could support their daughter and tend to Meaghan s health issues. The support and assistance provided to the Rath family is the first of many employee grants provided to WHG employees in need. GIVING TO EMPLOYEES THAT ARE IN NEED OF SUPPORT All current full-time or part-time employees of Wisconsin Hospitality Group are eligible to apply for grant funds. Employees do not have to contribute to the fund in order to be eligible for grant awards. Grants are solely awarded based on availability, need and fit. Since the inception in 2015, the company has raised more than $41,000 and donated $6,500 to employees in need. The funds collected are held in an account so that the company may respond quickly in time of need. $ 3,500 PAID OUT IN 2016 $ 25,086 TOTAL RAISED IN

WHG Cares is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization that collects contributions from Wisconsin Hospitality Group restaurant (Applebee s and Pizza Hut) guests and employees to help in the benefit of valued charity partners. In 2016, contributions equaled $245,487 of which $148,047 were paid out directly to organizations. Total campaign expenses for the year equaled $78,191, or 31%, including only 2% in administrative expense. These are expenses directly relate to all campaign efforts; it should also be noted that the WHG Cares staff is comprised solely of volunteers who do not ask for and do not receive compensation for their important charitable work. An additional $3,500 in employee donations was paid out from the Meaghan Fund employee emergency fund to assist some in time of need. At year end, the Meaghan Fund, had a cash balance of $32,146.
