3 Dear Potential Sponsor, On behalf of the Junior League of Reno (JLR), I would like to thank you for considering a sponsorship with our organization s upcoming fundraiser, Bloom: An Event to Support Homeless Youth. In 2017, our membership approved an exciting, long-term project: a drop-in center for homeless and transitional youth as coordinated by Eddy House. Through this large-scale project, JLR and our community partners will make a significant, lasting impact on youth homelessness in Northern Nevada. The Eddy House s drop-in center for homeless and transitional youth is a long-term planning effort that will be several years and an estimated $4 million in the making. The JLR also works with Lexie s Closet, Safe Embrace, and Volunteers of America, all non-profit organizations that play a part in improving the Northern Nevada community. 4 JLR DIFFERENCE Community Impact Since 1978, the Junior League of Reno s projects have varied tremendously and have made a crucial impact within Northern Nevada and our local community. Some of our latest projects include: Reno s first Universally Accessible Playground Inspiration Station for children and adults of all abilities at Dick Taylor Park opened on October 20, The $450,000 price tag was achieved with fundraising and corporate sponsors. Kids in the Kitchen is the League s free healthy eating and wellness program and is part of our ongoing commitment to fight against childhood obesity. The program has served thousands of children since its inception. Advocacy work supporting new legislation to stop human trafficking in Nevada. Our collaborative efforts with Awaken, Inc. drove awareness about this critical issue and helped gain support for Assembly Bill 67. JLR has adopted a long-term project - a drop-in center for homeless and transitional youth as coordinated by Eddy House. The Bloom fundraiser focuses on supporting this project. Additionally, JLR awards annual Community Enrichment Grants. In , JLR awarded eight community organizations nearly $20,000, creating a greater impact in our community. JLR PLAN Initiatives & Focus Areas JLR will continue its stance on supporting two key focus areas that directly help local women and children: CHILDHOOD HUNGER & NUTRITION - provide nutritional food options to children in our community. CHILDREN IN TRANSITION - provide resources to the children that are aging out of foster care and need assistance with further education, job placement, and social skill advancement. Our League is making an impressive community impact in these areas that is not possible without your continued generosity. 5 About Bloom JL Reno Spring Fundraising Event Governor s Mansion Saturday, April 28, PM JLR partners and community leaders will gather at the lovely and historic Governor s Mansion in Carson City. This beergarden party themed fundraiser supports our Eddy House project, and the Junior League of Reno s Community Fund. The event will include live entertainment and lawn games. Funds raised help JLR make a positive impact in the lives of women and children. You can help create a lasting, positive impact on the children in our community.
