BCHA Skydive Thank you for your interest in taking part in a tandem skydive at Old Sarum Airfield, near Salisbury in aid of BCHA. Please find enclosed your information pack and reservation form. No experience is required to experience the thrill of flying through the air from 10,000 feet knowing you are helping to support some of the most vulnerable people in our community. You can jump for free at the Salisbury group tandem skydive by raising a minimum of 395, and every penny you raise over the minimum will be further contributing to the work of BCHA. Full details of the costs involved with your skydive can be found in the enclosed information pack. When you book we will provide you with suggestions and support to help you raise your sponsorship money. By raising sponsorship for BCHA you are helping some of the most vulnerable people in our community to move forward with their lives, by helping them off the streets, out of abuse, over the skills barrier and onto independence and work. Further details of the work of BCHA can be found in the information pack. Places do fill up fast so let us know when you would like to jump as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. If you have any friends who might be interested in jumping, please do ask them to contact us. I look forward to welcoming you to our Skydive. Kind regards Lorna Trent Fundraising Manager DD: Mobile: lornatrent@bcha.org.uk
BCHA Skydive Information pack This pack should provide you with all the information you need to take part in a tandem skydiving event at Old Sarum Airfield, but if you have any further questions, please contact What does a skydive entail? Lorna Trent, Fundraising Manager at BCHA on or lornatrent@bcha.org.uk A tandem skydive is the ideal first jump; you will experience the thrill of freefall and enjoy a high performance canopy ride whilst being harnessed to an experienced instructor at all times throughout the descent. On arrival you will be introduced to your tandem instructor who will take you through all the training required for you to do your skydive. The training takes about 20 minutes and your instructor will be able to answer any questions that you may have. Your jump and training will be completed in a day You will be harnessed to an experienced parachute instructor at all times Your jump will take place from around 10,000 feet Freefall down to 5,000 feet at 120mph! The parachute has dual controls so you can help steer into the drop zone The landing will be controlled by your instructor You will be presented with a certificate to commemorate your skydive Please note: Parachuting does have an element of risk, and safety is the number one priority. The tandem will not take place if you have consumed alcohol on the day, or you are still under the influence from the night before; you will be asked to re-book a new date and will have to pay the deposit again.
How do I jump for free? All you have to do is raise 395 or more for BCHA, and the cost of your skydive is paid out of your sponsorship money. To reserve your place on a BCHA tandem skydive, please let us know the date you wish to jump, we will then confirm availability on this date and ask you to return your completed registration form with a non-refundable deposit of 50 to the address on the form. This should be in the form of a cheque or postal order made payable to Skydive Southcoast. On the day of your jump you will be required to make the following payments: 175 to GOskydive Southcoast to cover the final balance of your skydive This payment can be in cash, Mastercard, Visa or Switch. If you have raised sponsorship money via Virgin Money Giving GOskydive Southcoast will check your fundraising page on the day and you will need to pay any remaining balance. A minimum of 170 to BCHA This payment should be handed to GOskydive Southcoast upon arrival at the airfield, in the form of cash, postal orders, Credit or Debit Card. Important information: If you have raised sponsorship money via Virgin Money Giving BCHA your fundraising page will be checked on the day and you will need to pay any remaining balance. You cannot transfer to another date unless one week s notice is given. Failure to give a week s notice of non-attendance will mean forfeit of the 50 deposit. If you choose to raise money on online via Virgin Money Giving, you must inform BCHA so that we can keep track of your fundraising progress; please call us on Please always ensure you raise enough money off-line to cover the deposit paid. Can anyone Skydive? Age Restrictions: The minimum age to take part in a skydive is 16, and anyone under 18 does require parental consent. Medical Restrictions: If you are aged 18 to 39 you can fill the medical form in yourself as long as you do not suffer from any of the medical conditions listed in the Medical Restrictions section of the Booking Terms and Conditions. If you are and have a medical condition listed, you must speak to your doctor before booking (we can provide you with a medical form for them to sign before you book please call us on ). If you are aged 40 or over you must get a doctor to sign the medical form. Weight Restrictions: GOskydive Southcoast has a weight limit of 18 stone for all skydivers, with weight being in proportion to height. Anyone between 16 and 18 stone will need to contact us in advance to ensure that you are suitable to jump. Please ensure that you weigh yourself fully clothed as weight limitations are strictly adhered to and you may be asked to be weighed on the day. The booking fee is non-refundable if you are found to be over the weight restrictions.
A reasonable level of fitness is required to jump: Those over the age of 60 or with a medical condition will be assessed on the day by a tandem instructor, at whose discretion it will be to carry out the jump. If in the opinion of the tandem instructor the passenger is too frail, the jump will not go ahead, even if the tandem student has a certificate signed by the doctor. What about the weather? Skydiving is a weather dependent sport, and sometimes your jump may be delayed until the conditions are suitable. Staff at the airfield will do their best to keep you fully informed of the forecast ahead. If the weather is too bad then you will be re-booked by the parachute centre to visit on a suitable date. What do I wear? You will be provided with a jumpsuit to protect your clothes, but we recommend that you wear loose fitting clothes i.e. tracksuits or sports gear. For footwear, we recommend lace-up trainers; boots are not advisable. The jump centre will also provide you with a hat, gloves and goggles, and it is possible for you to wear glasses or contact lenses for the jump. What time will I jump? We cannot give an exact time of day that you will jump. Once you have arrived, there is some paperwork to complete and then your training. Weather permitting you will jump as soon as possible. Please allow all day to complete your skydive. (Please pass this information on to any spectators that will be attending with you!) Skydive Southcoast reserve the right to change and amend the student jumping order without notice. Can I bring any friends? Family and friends are most welcome. What facilities are present at the airport? Old Sarum Airfield has a fully licensed restaurant where food is available from 8am to 3pm, with beverages available throughout the whole day. The jump-site is accessible by wheelchair, with double doors and disabled toilet facilities. There is a large visitor s car park, internet facilities and a picnic area are all also available. Will I need insurance? The amount you pay on the day will include your British Parachute Association (BPA) membership which covers you for Personal Liability 3rd Party insurance for 2 million. If you require personal accident insurance then cover can be arranged through your own insurance broker or or Can I get my jump filmed or photographed? This is a fantastic way to remember your Skydive! You will have your own free fall camera person who will capture you preparing on the ground, going out to the aircraft, exiting at around 10,000 feet, and will fly in front of you and film your landing. This can be booked in advance via GOskydive Southcoast on or booked on the day.

BCHA has been helping homeless and vulnerable people for over 40 years. We currently help over 10,000 local people each year off the streets, out of abuse, over skills barriers and onto independence. Whether it is homelessness, domestic violence, educational disadvantage or just the need for help and advice, we offer people the support they need. Our housing, health, learning and work opportunities support people in the following ways: Young people It is a fact that an increasing number of homeless people are under 18. We provide a safe place for them to stay and the support and encouragement they need to build a better future for themselves. BCHA provide stability, support and guidance with trained staff. BCHA are also known for their forgiving nature and giving us young people a second chance when most needed. Thanks BCHA. Rough sleepers Sleeping on the street poses real dangers to a persons safety, emotional and physical health. We offer people temporary accommodation to take them away from this danger and help them rebuild their lives. When I found BCHA it was like a big pair of arms came around me and said 'you're safe now'. Older people We know that returning home from hospital can be a stressful and worrying time. We help people to access the support they need, helping them to remain safe and independent. BCHA helped me to stay active and in my own home allowing me to keep control of my own life. Jobseekers We recognise that being out of work can make people feel low, isolated and have reduced confidence. We run a number of initiatives helping people to become more confident, learn new skills, and move towards employment. BCHA have provided invaluable support to me during my time of need. They have helped me to control how I feel and given me confidence. Families We help people escape domestic abuse, providing a safe place for them to stay, working with families to help them look to the future with hope rather than fear. We have schemes for young mums helping to prepare them with the essential life skills they need to care for their family and progress into independent living. The refuge was wonderful, helping me and the children over our experiences. It gave us such a feeling of security, for the first time in years. People with addiction issues We provide supported accommodation for people with drug and alcohol addiction, helping people to find a way to overcome their addictions and build a life beyond drink and drugs. The staff at St Paul's night shelter never gave up on me. If it wasn't for BCHA I don't know where I'd be now. People with long-term illnesses Mental health problems are said to affect one in four people. Our support workers visit people with mental health problems and learning disabilities to support them to live as independently as possible within the community. BCHA help people to help themselves.
