3 Red Cross Youth Clubs When you volunteer with the American Red Cross, you become a part of one of the largest humanitarian organizations in the world and are able to make a positive impact on your peers and in your community. Also a great way to learn new skills, improve your resume and meet new people. One way to become a Red Cross volunteer is to start or join a Red Cross Club A Red Cross Club is a group that provides you and your peers with opportunities to make a difference by addressing your community s greatest needs and developing leadership skills. Red Cross Clubs empower you with knowledge and life-saving skills to help prepare your school and community to respond to emergencies

4 Learn how to be a life saver! Your Red Cross Club can host a Citizen CPR Train-a-Thon in your community. Help your community prepare! Hosting a Citizen CPR Train-a-Thon helps equip members of your community with essential lifesaving skills.

5 Learn, Practice, Share and Save lives The Pillowcase Project is a fun preparedness program for 3rd 5th graders. Be an advocate. Teach them about personal and family preparedness for local hazards and home fires. Help young people prepare their homes and your communities for emergencies The Pillowcase Project is our signature youth preparedness program and is implemented in every Red Cross region.

6 Express gratitude Holiday Mail for Heroes is an annual campaign where the American Red Cross affords Americans the opportunity to send messages of thanks and holiday cheer to military members, veterans, and their families. Make a meaningful impact Give a truly meaningful gift during this holiday giving season. Cards are not only for the holiday season but can be made for a variety of holidays, Valentines day, Veterans day, July 4 th

7 Spread the word! You and your club members will team up to distribute lifesaving fire safety information throughout your community You Can help! The American Red Cross responds to over 170 fires a day. By spreading the word on fire safety, you can reduce this number and help keep people safe.

8 Take it personal! Disaster Speaks is a powerful event that gives you the opportunity to personalize disaster. Large boxes will represent homes lost and will include stories about someone who has made the unthinkable journey through disaster. Share the steps you will take to become prepared with your classmates. Use your voice! By holding a Disaster Speaks event at your school, you can educate your classmates on Red Cross disaster services and empower them to take control before a disaster strikes.

9 Provide packages of hope Totes of Hope are care kits full of essential, personal care items for homeless veterans. Show gratitude To veterans that served our country through this fun event. Totes of Hope is a personal care kit drive in which items for homeless veterans are collected, assembled in a backpack or tote bag, and distributed through Veteran s hospitals or veterans outreach programs. The care kits should also include a short, personal note of thanks.

10 Help Families Prepare in Case of Emergency Preparedness kits is a great way to engage contribute to volunteers and Totes of Hope are care kits full of essential, personal care items for homeless veterans.

12 Red Cross Monsterguard App The free Monster Guard: Prepare for Emergencies App is a game that can help save lives. Children between the ages or 7 to 11 learn ways to stay safe in home fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, floods and other disasters by role playing as different monster characters. People can go to redcross.org/monsterguard or text MONSTER to for a direct link to download the app. Children should ask a parent or guardian for permission to download the app. The Monster Guard App game is a complement to The Pillowcase Project. Both are sponsored by Disney.
