3 Overview of Pancreatic Cancer Scotland Formed in 2010 by a group of patients, carers, nurses and doctors in Scotland to share hope, knowledge and action in the battle against pancreatic cancer We are committed to raising awareness, improving education, research and support for patients in Scotland affected by pancreatic cancer and associated tumours.

6 Developments across the world Pancreatic Cancer patient advocacy organisations from around the world came together in 2013 to discuss working together to raise global pancreatic cancer awareness and work collaboratively to support each other

7 Developments across the world European multi-stakeholder platform launched in 2014 which aims to bring together experts from all over Europe including academics, physicians, politicians, patient groups, journalists & industry with a common interest & willingness to improve care for patients with pancreatic cancer.

10 The goal behind raising awareness AWARENESS Identify & Assess Patients EARLIER Apply Current Treatments BETTER & SOONER Improve Survival Rates We know that people can survive pancreatic cancer. With earlier diagnosis and optimal treatment patients can have the best chance of survival. So...urgent increased awareness of pancreatic cancer is vital both for the public and amongst healthcare professionals.

13 COLLABORATION: Purple Lights Campaign Purple is the colour associated with pancreatic cancer across the globe. The lighting up of buildings, landmarks & venues purple has become increasingly popular throughout the UK. Largely organised by individuals affected by the disease, the act of lighting up a focal point in a village, town or city symbolises for many a way to remember loved ones who have sadly died of the disease, as well as celebrate the lives of those who have survived. This activity is supported by the following UK based charities via #PurpleLightsUK

18 PCS: highlights of collaborative approach Annual joint reception with PCUK at Scottish Parliament Working with Cancer Support Scotland, Maggies, MacMillan, PCUK, PCA and other organisations throughout the country to ensure provision of support for patients and families affected by pancreatic cancer in Scotland Ongoing awareness and education campaigns Research funding with PCUK and Chief Scientist Office and engaged with research teams within Scotland Exploring options to roll out educational online learning modules in partnership with Pancreatic Cancer Action Working towards the mutual goal of improving the outcomes for those diagnosed with pancreatic cancer
