4 Congratulation are in order! Howard Wingo was recently elected for membership by initiation, and we welcome back Michael Lewter who has reinstated. We will initiate all our newly elected members at the October 15 th regular Lodge meeting. Please try and attend and welcome these folks to the best Lodge anywhere! As we approach the mid-point in our Lodge year here is where our membership stands. We began the year on a positive note with an 8 member gain over the Lodge year. Since then we have initiated 9 new members, reinstated 1, lost 1 to absolute dimit, and 4 to death. We have 3 waiting initiation and 1 applicant awaiting vote. Unfortunately we have 47 delinquents. Below is our delinquent list.. Retaining members is a big challenge and we need everyone s help. Please do your best to encourage these folks to pay their dues and become active. Don t forget you can receive your newsletter, in full color, before the printed version hits the mail. All you have to do is send a blank with NEWSLETTER in the subject line to faylod1792@bellsouth.net and we will gladly add you to our distribution. 5 Chaplin s Corner Fellow Elks, we have several members and family who suffer from illness. Brother Tom Glazener underwent successful brain surgery on September 17 th and is recovering in the Huntsville Hospital room Tom is allowed only brief visitation. The football season is in full swing so come by the Lodge for a cold bucket of domestic beer for only $ Beginning October 2 nd three new dinner entrees will be added to the Wednesday night menu, Hamburger Steak, Grilled Chicken Breast, and Fried Shrimp. All will be served with fries, roll and a salad for only $7.50. Pork Chop, Pork Chop will be on the Friday night menu October 11 th. That s two pork chops for $12.00 Brother Larry Campbell is battling cancer and is responding well to treatment. Brother Shirley Crouch is still under treatment after successful cancer surgery. He is a home and welcomes visitors. Please keep Larry, Shirley, Tom, and their families in your thoughts and prayers. Many thanks to the members, wives and friends who have helped ready the Glazener house to make way for Tom s return home. If you know of an Elk or family member that is ailing or in need please contact Larry Anderson, Harold Alverson or any Lodge Officer. 6 Veterans Visit & Cook-Out Serving Those Who Served Our Nation On Saturday, November 2, 2013, we will conduct our fall cookout and visit with the Veterans at the Alvin C York facility in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. The Lodge will provide hamburgers and hot dogs with all the trimmings. Deserts are always a big hit at our cookouts, so if wish to provide something along this line, I assure you it will be greatly appreciated. Donations of toiletry items, clothing, stationery, caps, and any other items you may wish to donate can be left at the Lodge, or better yet, you can join us in Murfreesboro and see the appreciation of our Veterans first hand. We will be leaving from the Lodge around 8:00 that morning. All help in cooking and serving is greatly appreciated. Take the time to say Thank You For Your Service and to spend a morning with those who have served our nations defense and protected our liberties. Ray Rozar, Veteran s Chairman

8 Our ENF Beacon Grant is approved and we are set to kick off the Back Pack Program. WE NEED YOUR HELP!! Our Lodge in partnership with Hands of Mercy Outreach Center will soon be providing weekend nutrition to Ralph Askins Elementary Kindergartners and First Graders identified as needy by school counselors. Here s where you can help. Each Thursday morning throughout the school year Lodge members will be needed to help assemble back packs at the Hands of Mercy Outreach Center locate at 101 Easy Street. Once packed, Back Packs will then be delivered to the school for distribution. In addition, the Lodge has initiated a food drive for the specific items that will go in each Back Pack. We are asking Elks and Ladies to add a few of the items listed below to your shopping list and drop them in the collection box in the lounge.
