2 President s Corner The club will be open Monday, July 4th from noon to 8:00 p.m., with last call at 7:30 p.m. There are still a couple of openings for the Men s Golf Outing on Saturday, August 20th. Entry forms are available at the bar. The cost is $65.00 per person, and you must be a member. Members: As of the May Men s Meeting, the use of the alcove is limited to 40 people. Please abide by this rule. Don t forget that the club is a great place to be on those hot summer days. Our deepest sympathy to the family and friends of Larry VanderMolen who passed away last month. Support your club and our troops Ted Kowalewski Thumbs up! Auxiliary News Thank you to all the ladies who attended the meeting and banquet. We had a wonderful time and would like to thank the ladies who put this on for us. We would also like to thank the men who volunteered to bartend for us. This was greatly appreciated. The new officers were installed during the meeting. Please take the time to congratulate them. I would like to thank them for being part of the board. I would also like to thank the ladies who have previously served on the board. Thank you for all your hard work and dedication. The weather is turning out quite nice. Please remember that we do not meet in the months of July and August. Please take the time to enjoy the club. This is a great place to unwind and cool down. We are always looking for new members, so if you are interested in joining, please come to a meeting and we would be happy to sign you up. You made it so fun! We could never do this without all the great help we had with ticket printing, bar setup, table setup, volunteer bartenders Doug DeBok, Jim Konwinski, and Ken Kok. The most important feature is it s with all your friends from the Casino Club. You will not want to miss this great time of golf, and the food, drinks and dancing back at the club. All of our great help will be there to put on a fun filled day for everyone. The reason this outing has been so successful is because of all the wonderful people who volunteer to make it happen. We thank you! The price includes golf, cart, lunch at the course, closest to the pin and a steak dinner for two back at the club. Remember, the first 144 paid golfers will get in. 7 Women s Auxiliary Reaches out to GR Home for Veterans The Women s Auxiliary supports the membership at Casino Club through a number of events but did you also know they are reaching out to our veterans? Back in December, the women s auxiliary decided to support a nonprofit within the Greater Grand Rapids area. They started off small by volunteering some time at the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans. In December, three members of the Women s Auxiliary and their husbands helped move approximately 800 Christmas packages from one location on the GR Vet s campus to another. The volunteer coordinator needed help moving the packages in preparation of an upcoming Christmas party for the vets. In January, the Women s Auxiliary decided to go a little further by collecting some items on the Grand Rapids Vet s Home wish list. For the next three months, the women of the auxiliary picked up a number of items on the list and dropped them off at their monthly meeting. The items collected included sweat pants, toiletries, batteries, candy bars, etc. Totes were placed on the club side as well, encouraging members to give an item from the wish list.

8 In February, the women asked the men at the club to get involved. A cash mailbox was donated by Standale Lumber and strategically placed at some of our Fish Frys. CC members and the public alike gave their extra dollar bills in support of the vets. At the end of the season, $497 was collected in the mailbox. Many people gave dollar bills while others provided generous donations. With the money raised, specific items were purchased (requested by the Vet s home) as listed below: Boxer shorts Diabetic Socks Military hats Sports caps The Women s Auxiliary would like to thank each person who provided a donation this year for the Grand Rapids Home for Vets. We would also like to thank the men of the club for joining in the cause. The donations, delivered to the vets home, were much appreciated. We owe our vets so much for the sacrifices they made on behalf of our country.
