2 A message from our Patrons The generosity, expertise and sheer hard work of the volunteers both humbled and inspired us when we visited Glastonbury this year, and the help given to medical projects overseas is wonderful. FMS really does make the world a better place, and we consider it an honour to support you. Stephen McGann Festivals In 2016 we have provided medical cover at the following events: Heidi Thomas FMS does fantastic work. When I visited the team at Glastonbury this year I was knocked out by the commitment, care and good humour of the staff. They get the job done so everybody else can have a good time. A festival is a place where you go for peace and relaxation - for life, fun and happy memories. It s never a place where you want to be in need of medical care. That s why FMS is so great. It s organised to pick you up and put you back on your feet - to make sure your memories are the best they can be. The volunteer staff who do this work are wonderful - professional, committed and incredibly resourceful. And very funny! It was great to meet them this year, and I look forward to seeing them all again very soon. Charities We have supported the following charities: Charity Purpose of Donation Jesse May Provide five immediate end of life care visits to two children (five 2,700 visits each) that have reached the end stages of life Health Improvement Project Zanzibar to devote time and resources for the further development of psychiatric services in Zanzibar at Makunduchi and beyond ( 12,550) to support a volunteer doctor, training costs and the input from 25,300 Care Africa Network Lalibela SGAA Tulsi Kambeng the support team ( 12,750) Venue rental, participant travel, and participant accommodation, meals for participants, and course materials and manuals. Contribution towards the cost of constructing a maternity unit at Lalibela Hospital Packing and shipping costs for the donated Ilizarov frames, toys for child patients, and anaesthetic consumables Tribal Health Care Programme, Hospital and Medical Camp Expenses, Cataract Patients Contribution to the work of the Village Clinic, Ambulance Service, Community Health Outreach, hospital treatments, and Training 1,993 18,000 1,000 18,570 15,629 Total 83,192 Tulsi Trust: We are feeling so blessed and proud with our new 4x4 ambulance capable of traversing the treacherous jungle tracks, we can now reach call outs faster than ever and safely get patients out of the deep forests. 4 Head Quarters We have extended our Evercreech premises by taking over a recently vacated unit. This gives us the extra accommodation that we need for meetings, training, medical stores, and vehicle storage. Refurbished Training Dept. Stores Training Our newly established Training Department is going from strength to strength. Most courses are held at our premises at Evercreech, Somerset, but we are beginning to take the training out to our customers. At our first inspection in October, our accreditation body QualSafe Awards rated our training centre outstanding. Training taking place at Worthy Farm 4 P a g e

5 Vehicles We have acquired a 2013 (63) 3500kg Renault Luton Low Loader van for stores (pictured on right). This replaces the old trailer which we have outgrown This vehicle joins the other recently acquired vehicle (VW ambulance). These vehicles are much welcome additions to our Fleet. Clinical advice A less well-known FMS activity which has been developing steadily this year is our on-line specialist Advice service. This puts developing world clinicians, often working in isolation, in touch with specialists in the UK for case discussion and advice. We have plans to increase the range of clinical specialities covered and to make the service more widely available. FMS Party The End of Season Staff Party at Worthy Farm in September was well attended and featured some great music from Crooked Dan and the traditional guest appearance by Michael Eavis, who presented a substantial cheque for our charity donations fund. Money It has been a successful year. Loss of income from Glastonbury guests has been made up by a considerable donation from Glastonbury Festival Events Ltd, increased training activity, Glasto Chat donation and the sale of some donated equipment and a vehicle. These donations are greatly appreciated as it goes some way to support those in the world that would otherwise not have access to essential medical services. A progress report will be presented at the AGM. Training There will be a further increase in the number of courses. Additionally we will be offering our training to non FMS members (with fees comparable to other training providers) Vehicles It is the intention to purchase one further vehicle in 2017, to replace an ambulance that is towards the end of its life. Money We have a reserve of 150,000 to cover any financial risks. We have drawn up a cash flow projection which indicates that we will have at least 150,000 at all times in the next five years. This is very reassuring.
