1 The Professional Development Institute is Seeking Award Nominations J une 2013 Submitted by Maryann Marchi Pennsylvania was chosen to host this year s Annual Professional Development Institute sponsored by the National Staff Development and Training Association (NSDTA). This institute is a premier national training and networking event for people involved in human services training, staff development and organizational development. It will take place at the Hershey Lodge on October 20-23, During the Institute, several awards will be given to staff development and training professionals. NSDTA believes the opportunity to attend its Institutes should be shared with as many human services training professionals as possible. However, it also recognizes that many agencies simply may not have the funds necessary to send staff. To that end, NSDTA offers the opportunity to apply for a Joan Carrera Scholarship to attend its annual Institute. Joan Carrera was a pioneer in staff development and training, and a true friend, mentor, and inspiration to NSDTA. The scholarships can cover registration, hotel, travel and per diem costs. In addition, NSDTA is pleased to offer the opportunity to recognize outstanding performance in the training and development field. The Distinguished Service in Training Award is open to any individual, agency, company, or program that provides quality training for public sector employee. Another award that will be awarded is the Career Achievement Award. This award winner is recognized to an individual who has demonstrated throughout his/her career a commitment to the profession of human services training, organizational development, and/or staff development, and/ or significant contributions to the profession in terms of leadership, new ideas, and education. Another award is the Pro Humanitate Human Service Professional Development and Training Literary Award. The intent of this award is to recognize meritorious literary work that exemplifies the intellectual integrity and moral courage required to transcend political and social barriers to champion "best practice" in human service professional development and training; thereby encouraging research, scholarship, and constructive professional discourse in the human services professions. Please consider nominating someone for a Joan Carrera Scholarship, the Service in Training Award, Career Achievement, or the Pro Humanitate Human Service Professional Development and Training Literary Award for this year's Institute. Nominations can be submitted online by visiting the NSDTA Conference Scholarships and Awards link on the NSDTA website nsdta.aphsa.org/, or by I nside this I s s ue: The Professional Development Institute is Seeking Award Nominations Twitter, Facebook and QR Code Save the Date Family Group Decision Making Conference Save the Date STE Fall 2013 Regional Team Contact Information PA Child Welfare Resource Center 1 County Connection: June 2013
