2 WELCOME TO THE 2018 LONDON CONVENTION OF NARCOTICS ANONYMOUS Mission statement The London Convention of Narcotics Anonymous is a spiritual celebration of recovery from the disease of addiction, bringing together addicts in recovery from all over London, the UK and globally, to inspire unity and strengthen bonds between the London areas. It is for members to share their experience, strength and hope with each other and carry the message to the addict who still suffers, so that no addict need ever die from the horrors of addiction without the knowledge of another way to live. The 2018 committee welcomes you to the twenty-sixth London Convention of Narcotics Anonymous. We hope you will enjoy your time at this special event, and that you find a new experience of recovery. We d like to offer a special welcome to our UK visitors as well as those who have travelled from overseas. This is an international event but we hope you will enjoy our hospitality and fit right in as part of the family. We have planned a schedule with events, meetings and workshops that celebrates and captures the energy, vibrancy and cultural diversity found at the heart of our fellowship. This year we have introduced some live shares from the main stage. In London we benefit from almost hourly meetings and we d like to encourage participation of those further afield, who perhaps live with a disability or in remote areas, and who have limited access to meetings. With the kind support and collaboration of the UK website online meetings, we have decided to host some live dial-in access to listen to some of the main stage shares. Any money we raise through this year s event will be shared equally between the four London areas. This will facilitate further outreach and to help carry the message to addicts through our many contact points. A special thanks to the staff and management at Friends House for their continued help and support. The London convention is run entirely by addicts for addicts. We would love to hear about your experience, any new ideas and suggestions. 5 Helpline and Website Committee We need volunteers Share Review Committee We review recorded shares and make them available to the public. The shares are a valuable resource when you can t get to a meeting and need to connect. Online Meetings Online meetings extend our reach and help us carry the message and offer support to addicts living with a disability or in isolation. Helpline Our volunteers are the public face of NA. Helpline calls vary and may be an addict s first contact with NA, or simply a person seeking information, help or support. 12 Step List This is a list of volunteers who are willing to provide local support to a newcomer, who wants to attend their first NA meeting but needs a friendly companion. Events List We keep listings of forthcoming NA conventions, unity days and related events around the world. In NA, you already have friends in places, you have yet to visit. Meeting List We maintain a list of over 1,100 NA meetings around the UK. Our online search tool lets you quickly find meetings in your area or when travelling, day or night. Distance Sponsorship Our program connects isolated addicts with a sponsor via , letter or phone. We connect people from all over the world, not just in the UK. Would you like to help?
