7 PROTECTING YOU With RFID technology, every ID is totally unique and cannot be misread, making the RI Witness system both a reliable replacement to manual doublewitnessing as well as a solution for reducing staff distractions. RI Witness readers and touch screens are installed at every work area both inside and outside the lab where patients or patient samples are treated. Self-adhesive RFID tags are available to fit containers such as Petri dishes or test tubes that contain patient samples. These tags enable the readers to register the containers in the work area and monitor a patient s identity at every stage of the treatment. TRACKING OUTSIDE THE LAB Developed in collaboration with the PGD experts Reprogenetics UK, RI Witness new PGD function tracks the history of the embryos and their cell samples from your lab to the genetics lab and back again. A PGD history is logged in the patient file confirming which biopsied embryos are suitable for transfer. RI Witness will automatically alert the embryologist if an abnormal embryo is chosen for transfer in error. REASSURING If at any time, samples from incompatible patients are introduced into the same work area, RI Witness warns the lab personnel both visually and audibly. Monitoring is constant, so an identity check can never be overlooked. It can even sound a warning if tagged containers are left inadvertently on a workstation. PROMPTING & GUIDING To aid a smooth workflow, many labs have installed the live cycle overview display board to show the cycle type and the last or next procedures performed or scheduled for that day. It can collate details of who has worked on a sample, when and at which workstation, sample images and procedural films, consumables or media auditing, allowing you to make considered decisions on how to improve your lab management. It can even tell you where tagged patient notes were last located. PAPERLESS Most labs record cycle information on paper forms which then need to be separately transcribed into a computer database. The Data Capture feature enables you and your colleagues to enter data into patient records using small touch screen displays or a keyboard and mouse interface installed at your work areas. By inputting directly, transcription errors are eliminated and multiple data handling is avoided. Data can be accessed and analysed immediately from anywhere on the system network. Your patients experience is really fundamental during the treatment. Having RI Witness gives patients the possibility of taking actively part in the control of their cycle. Through the use of ID cards to ID checking of the embryo to be transferred on-screen in the transfer room, it provides extra reassurance so your patients have one thing less to think about. IMAGING With the Imaging feature, you are able to capture images and videos from every microscope in the laboratory, at every stage of the patient cycle, in real-time. All the latest information on a cycle can be accessed immediately from any networked PC. TRACEABILITY The Traceability feature can help a clinic to keep a full record of consumables used in the laboratory, often a requirement of regulatory authorities. Tailored to your lab protocols, this feature logs which products are used for specific processes or cycle types. Traceability records can be sorted or filtered in various ways to cross-reference patient cycles and batches of material.
