2 Introduction One of the products of Kanters is Ultimate Acid. The product is based on a synergistic mixture of organic acids and organic minerals aimed to maintain a good gastrointestinal tract health and improve production performance. Another product of Kanters Special Products is Pro- Mac. is a feed additive based on vitamins, minerals, organic acids and plant extracts. Both Ultimate Acid and are provided via the drinking water. In order to verify the effects of the product on technical results in broilers, a field test was performed. This field test, performed in June and July 2014, aimed to gather information about the differences in effectiveness in the drinking water acidifier Ultimate Acid and the feed additive (Kanters, The Netherlands) versus a positive control group receiving competitor products. 2. Materials and Methods 2.1 Products Kanters Products were tested against a situation in which products of competitor are used to the drinking water. Table 1. Ultimate Acid is administered in the drinking water. The product is from Kanters, The Netherlands. Dosage of Ultimate Acid depends on the ph of the drinking water after addition of the product. Drinking water ph should be below ph 4. Dosage used was 1 litre per 1000 litre drinking water. The ph of drinking water after addition of 1 litre Ultimate Acid per 1000 litre drinking water was ph 4.4. The product is afeed additive based on vitamins, minerals, organic acids and plant extracts. is administered in the drinking water. The product is from Kanters, The Netherlands. Dosage of is fixed at 1 litre per 1000 litre drinking water and therefore independent of ph.

3 2.2 Experimental setup On one farm location four experimental houses were included in the field trail of which two trial houses and one control house. Houses contained 400 broilers per house. The number of days in production cycle was 35 days. There was no thinning of birds. Table 2. Experimental setup House no. Programs differ in products used and moments of product administration. Dosage used was the same for all situations. For all acidifiers ph of drinking water after addition of product should be between ph 3.5 and 3.9 (ph <4). However, this wasn t the case in all three situations. Conclusion This field test results indicate that Ultimate Acid gives a better performance in broilers, compared to competitive drinking water program. More specific: Ultimate Acid lowers total mortality Ultimate Acid improves feed conversion Ultimate Acid increases slaughter weight Ultimate Acid results in a higher production index Ultimate Acid is able to improve overall production performance in broilers
