There are many possible sources of infection of which feed is one of the main route. Intestinal wall microvilli, microscopic cellular membrane protrusions, that are responsible for a wide variety of functions including absorption of nutrients, can be seriously damaged by enterobacteria. This can lead to the malabsorption of nutrients reducing the efficiency of digestion and inhibiting animal performance. Organic acids Organic acids are used to control potentially pathogenic bacteria. Genex Poultry is formulated using a unique blend of organic acids combined with a stable carrier. It s the types of acids used in Genex Poultry that make the difference. Why use organic acids? Organic acids are used to control potentially pathogenic bacteria due to their ability to penetrate the bacterial cell wall of Gramnegative bacteria. Once the cell has been compromised the organic acids disrupt cell metabolism, thus killing the bacteria.
