However, insulin resistance is a pre-diabetes situation that has high insulin in some parts of the body and low insulin in other parts. Insulin resistance increases the susceptibility of viruses, esp. rhinoviruses. This is that virus that creates sinus congestion. This is also why eating sugar makes many people congested. You can t kill a virus because it s not alive in the first place. It s a piece of genetic material wrapped in a sac and then invades your cells when your resistance is low insulin resistance creates lowered immunity. Thickened sinus cavities obstruct air pathways. There also could be another cause from low cortisol, since cortisol is naturally an anti-inflammatory hormone. When cortisol becomes high over time, the receptors for insulin can become resistant. This is called cortisol resistance whereby lots of cortisol is being pumped out, but it s not doing its job in the body. The other big cause of sleep apnea is adrenal fatigue - why? Because the adrenals control the immune system and the sinuses are filled with lymphatic tissue (immune tissue). Another point is when the adrenals pump out high cortisol, the nerve that goes to the sinuses (hypoglossal) can become atrophied (weakened) triggering the tissues in the back of your sinuses to enlarge. The same thing can happen with the heart - if there is atrophy of the heart, it enlarges. Vitamin D3 and K2 are also beneficial for Sleep Apnea in addition to supporting the adrenal glands. 7 Spurs (heel, joints, etc.) Explanation: When the body develops excess soft tissue calcium (calcium deposits in the soft tissues), this is the time that spurs can grow in areas where has been an old injury. There are 2 things to do: 1. Take vitamin D3 and vitamin K2 to eliminate the excess calcium from places it should not be. 2. Do acupressure to rid yourself of the pain (use the membership site to learn about this). The combination of D3 and K2 remove calcium from places where it should not be and put that calcium into the bones, where it should be. If it s seasonal, obviously either you can avoid the allergy or focus on improving your adrenals. The adrenal glands are the potential problem behind all allergies. This is why doctors give an epi-pen for several allergic reactions. The epi-pen is epinephrine (an adrenal neurotransmitter). Doctors also give people corticosteroids for allergies, another adrenal hormone. However, if there is a grass allergy, we have found that wheat grass juice powder is VERY beneficial for environmental allergies. If you have sinus congestion, then your blood ph is too far to the alkaline side. Start drinking apple cider vinegar (1 Tablespoon in water). Interestingly, an old injury to the nose can set the person up to get congestion in the sinuses. Many people have had an old trauma to the sinuses (being punched, an object hitting the nose, sinus surgery, dental work close to the nose, etc.). If this is your condition, then acupressure is the technique to get rid of it (go to membership site for this one). You could also have a fungus growing in your nose in which case you will need to do a garlic rinse: Sinus congestion could be caused by biofilms (build up of microbes). Use a 1% Johnson s baby shampoo solution, used in a Netipot or a nasal irrigation. And yes, I did say baby shampoo (acts to strip down the mucus acting as a chemical surfactant (solvent). Of course, don t mention my name after doing this kidding! If you are not willing to do that, you can use a xylitol nasal wash. The sinuses can also be heavily influenced by your liver and even the gallbladder - why? Because the liver makes bile that absorbs vitamin A - the key nutrient to support sinuses. Vitamin A controls all the inner body surface skin. So cod liver oil is good but use extra virgin version. Vitamin C is also vital to the sinuses being opened; thus wheatgrass juice powder is the recommendation. But for several people who find it almost impossible to relieve their sinus congestion, so high doses of calcium ascorbate (buffered vitamin C with lots of bioflavinoids) would decrease histamines. 8 Wheat Grass Juice Powder Cortisol Support Formula This symptom is related to:low Cortisol Itching Explanation: Histamines are chemical substances created inside the body that cause itching. They are eliminated through the liver. Itching on the bottom of the feet is gallbladder or liver congestion. The Gallbladder Formula would help. Histamines are involved in allergies. The allergies could be environmental, food allergies or even poison ivy. The adrenals produce cortisol, which is involved in allergy reactions. This is a low cortisol situation. One good remedy for itching and inflammation is stinging nettle root. The most powerful anti-histamine is vitamin C. I normally do not recommend vitamin C because it s synthetic; however, if combined with the other factors in the vitamin C complex (bioflavinoids, rutin, etc.), it would help reduce intense itching. Here s one I would recommend (take 1 gram at a time throughout the day, up to 7 grams if needed: Low Bile This symptom is related to:low Bile Wakes up in the Middle of the Night Explanation: This problem lying behind this symptom is either an adrenal symptom or a problem with glycogen (stored sugar). With adrenal fatigue, the hormone cortisol spikes in an opposite way. Normally in the body, hormones go through a circadian rhythm, with cortisol at the lowest point at 2:30am in the morning and cortisol at its highest at 8:00am. But during adrenal fatigue, you get a spike of cortisol at 2:30am, making you more awake in the middle of the night, even more than during the day. Then you're completely exhausted in the early morning when you should be waking up when the alarm clock goes off. Have you ever woken up by your alarm clock and said, "If I could just sleep now, I could probably sleep the best?" Then we know your hormones are out of balance in a manner of speaking. Normally the liver should store sugar and release it slowly through the night and if this doesn't happen, the sugars level can go up or down, bumping you out of the sleep. The name for this is insulin resistance (IR). IR will also force you to urinate through the night and this is merely because your blood sugar levels are off. 9 Loss of Memory Explanation: The most common cause of a loss of memory is high insulin. This could be due to a pre-diabetic situation called Insulin Resistance. What happens is that glucose can't enter the brain to the degree it should because there is resistance to insulin. 11 Legs get heavy after climbing or inclined exercise Explanation: One of the functions of your adrenals is to adapt the body to the stress of different positions. When you change positions, such as by moving blood quickly from the lower body to the upper body. Incline exercise or climbing up stairs requires healthy adrenals. A common symptom of weak adrenals is that your legs feel like lead weights after moving in an inclined exercise or climbing stairs. Constipation has many causes. 1. Lack of bile (bile acts as a lubricant). 2. Antibiotics (These are notorious for killing the good bacteria. 13 Cortisol Support Formula This symptom is related to:low Cortisol Muscle Cramps (esp. at night) Explanation: There are several causes of muscle cramps. Take a look at this list, which ranks the causes from most common to least common: *Side effects from medication. Steroids (for asthma), high blood pressure meds, diuretics and cholesterol meds (statins) are the culprits. *Too little calcium. This includes having low stomach acid (which prevents calcium absorption). It takes an acidic stomach to absorb minerals. The older you are, the less stomach acid you have. This includes people taking antacids, which destroy the ability to absorb calcium. Someone taking calcium carbonate (rocks) without taking an acid at the same time can also cause too little calcium in the body. It includes people taking calcium for bone loss (usually the wrong kind). Vitamin D deficiency, which reduces the absorption of calcium. If someone is low in fats (omega 3, fish oils, butter), he/she could also be low in Vitamin K2, which prevents calcium from going in the bone. This results in calcium getting stuck in the soft tissues. Essential fatty acids (from cod liver oils), Vitamin D3, and vitamin K2 all transport calcium and without it, the person will have calcium deposited in the tissues, causing cramps, too. *Magnesium deficiency. This magnifies the excess calcium problem. Magnesium causes relaxation of muscles. Leafy greens have lots of magnesium; dairy products have lots of calcium. But if the digestive system is damaged, the ability to absorb minerals is impaired. Remember that bile salts are also needed to absorb the fat-soluble vitamins that transport calcium. *Potassium deficiency. This is usually because the person is not eating enough vegetables. We need 7-10 cups each day. Potassium controls both nerve and muscle functions. Suspect a potassium deficiency if the person doesn t eat veggies or if they are on diuretics, are taking diabetes meds or have high cortisol (or taking cortisol meds). In rare cases, a potassium excess can cause cramps in kidney disease (like in kidney dialysis). *Sodium may also be deficient. And this could cause cramping but it would be rare. **One point on calf tenderness: This is a vitamin B1 deficiency, so you need to differentiate between a cramp and tenderness. Also a vitamin B1 deficiency can cause restless legs. Lactic acid builds up in the legs IF there is low B1. Low B1 comes from stress and eating sugar and refined grains. Another interesting note is that if the adrenals are stressed and the person climbs stairs, their legs get heavy. When pain is referred, it means that the pain may be because of a certain organ, but another part of the body receives the pain. this makes it confusing to doctors who don't understand pain referrral patterns. A nerve called the phrenic nerve travels from the diaphragm to the top of the gallbladder area. When the gallbladder becomes congested, it can irritate the nerve at the area of the upper right side of your body (shoulder and neck and upper right trap muscle). Eating nuts or fatty food can aggravate the gallbladder and put pressure on the nerve that causes the shoulder pain. The pain could radiate into the right scapula, upper right trap or down the right arm. It can cause headaches too. If the gallbladder is involved, there is almost always a deficiency in bile. This is especially true if the gallbladder was removed. There could be an injury that is causing the pain; however, if there is any gallbladder involvement, the right shoulder pain will not heal.
